The application process has just gotten under way for UTMB spring admission. Has anyone taken the TEAS tests? Any helpful hints on getting a high score?
Hey guys! I just made a call, the admissions department said they have been compiling and organizing the applications (like pulling the TEAS scores) but they haven't even started reviewing the applications. They said the reviewing committee will be meeting together later this month, but as of right now, our applications have not been reviewed They need to hurry up!
rplauche1 I will be attending the open house. If I find out any useful information I will make sure to post it!
Friday Sept 13th OPEN HOUSE UPDATE:
Hey everyone!
I have great news! I attended the open house today and just got home. Here are the updates:
-Interviews are being reinstated as of our admission class, so for Spring 2014!
-The first round of decisions will be made in 2 weeks when the Admissions Committee gets together.
-They are demolishing one of the 2 "On-Campus" dorms, no plans for new dorms mentioned.
-FAFSA is now easier by importing your information from the IRS website using an online tool.
-Our TEAS V score is important BUT:
-Your TEAS V Science Score is weighed more than your actual Science GPA (It should match your GPA or be better)
-Your TEAS V Individual Reading & English scores are also important
-By the way, they DO see how many times you've taken the TEAS V!
-You will be Wait-Listed if you don't get in immediately and choose to be on the wait-list.
-They are starting to integrate the Skills Labs by including Medical, Physical Therapy, and Respiratory Therapy students so that we can learn to work together (like in real life).
I think that's it. I'm really excited about becoming a UTMB Nursing Student! The faculty and staff seem amazing. The campus is beautiful and just walking through the halls looking at the past School of Nursing Students' Class Pictures really infused me with a sense of pride, tradition, and motivation:-)
Good luck everyone,
Levi

I'm pretty excited about the interviews! I used my personal statement to explain some bad grades from way back in 2005 but hopefully I get called for an interview, I need all the help I can get! Lol
She didn't say exactly how many applies for spring she just said in general between 700-1200 applicants and 120 would be admitted to the program.

I have no new updates, hopefully next week we will receive that email saying our applications have been submitted for review like the last cycle. Who knows, I wonder if we are still supposed to call and check the status of our application at 12 weeks? They updated the SON website and now it says if you don't hear anything 10-12 weeks after submitting your supplemental application, call and check on everything. Either way, I continue to check MyStar daily.
