UTMB Galveston Spring 2021

Published

I am going to apply to UTMB Galveston's spring 2021 program. I have a 3.7 overall GPA and a 3.9 prereq GPA. I'm taking the TEAS this Friday and was wanting know if anyone could tell me whether I'd be a competitive applicant. The only other thing I have is that I've worked at a doctor's office walking back patients, taking vitals, inputting and updating patients meds, etc. for about four years. I have looked at other threads for utmb and it seems most people who got in or at least were considered had higher gpas than I do. Also, does anyone know the wait period for retaking the UTMB for the TEAS? I'm having a hard time finding it.

Submitting my application soon. I’m still in the process of writing my personal statement. I hate writing about myself. LOL?

Has anyone gotten information about if we need to submit Spring transcripts now that the deadline got extended?

I'm also super nervous because I saw that some programs are removing the TEAS requirement from their applications this cycle due to covid and I worked so hard to do well on it. I hope UTMB doesn't remove them.

I submitted my transcripts as of what they are right now. I plan on sending my transcripts again after Spring semester is over! Which is still before the deadline. I haven’t heard about them taking away the TEAS, but I would be a little upset as well since I studied hard for mine too!

I feel that so hard. I know it would be hard for a lot of people to take the TEAS but I have heard that tests like the GRE are being offered online so I hope ATI works it out and makes it accessible so that people are able to take it. I'm sure it's a lot of work but it would be nice LOL

I am planning on submitting transcripts after this semester too. Does anyone know if they have to be verified through Nursing CAS before the deadline? Or does Nursing CAS just have had to have received the transcript by the deadline?

Do you guys think there is going to be a bigger application pool since they extended the deadline? How hard/easy do you think it will be for Spring 2021 applicants?

I doubt they would require people to send in finalized Spring transcripts before the deadline, since plenty of people have already submitted their applications. I really hope they take into consideration our TEAS scores though. I worked so hard for my scores.?

I was wondering the same thing about the application pool! This is a hard time to apply to nursing school so it has me more worried than before ?

I agree. I also paid way too much to buy books for that test, to take that exam and send scores LOL I really hope they consider it.

I know that the applicant pool for Spring start does tend to be lower in general than the fall. And they accept the same amount of applicants during both cycles. Hopefully the extension of the deadline doesn't affect those numbers too much.....But then I keep thinking about how everyone who got rejected from their first choice schools are now going to be turning to schools who still have applications open and then I want to throw up. ?

We'll just have to wait and see. Does anyone know when letters are usually sent out for Spring applicants?

They said on the website to expect a response atleast twelve weeks after the deadline at the soonest. Ordinarily that would fall towards the end of July, but due to the extension I guess it'd be August instead.

I think in the past people have heard back late May and June and throughout the Summer but that the first wave was around late May. I imagine now it would be late June or early July at the earliest.
