UTMB Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!

I cannot believe it's actually time for me to apply to nursing school. It seems like I've been working on my pre-reqs forever now and it's finally here. I didn't see any utmb 2017 fall hopefuls yet so I thought I'd create a thread. I'm having one heck of a time with the application process. I'm taking my teas next Wednesday and submitting my application after that. Has anyone sent in their transcripts through nursingCAS yet? Anyone have any pre-reqs they still need to complete? I have one last semester to finish. Good luck to everyone applying this semester!

The people who got accepted yesterday were already interviewed back in early/mid march. I think the discussion on Monday was to look for more potential candidates that match the ones that have been highly considered to be accepted. Meanwhile we are waiting for an invitation for the interview which means that we're not as up there. Up next is probably people who are considered for waitlist and conditional acceptance or maybe even more for Fall 2017 acceptance. If you haven't gotten a rejection probably means you're still considered, but since you haven't had an interview means you're at the bottom. I've seen people on this forum rejected already so it might mean we have a chance. If you looked at the stats of the people accepted, they've chosen people with a 3.5+ GPA, TEAS score of 80+ and some already has a degree. They will get to the students who don't have a degree.

I'm hoping this means more acceptances will come out on Friday the 28th. I interviewed back on March 30 and was told I had a great interview and an excellent personal statement. I have a 3.51 GPA, TEAS score of 80+, 2 Master's degrees, 2 Bachelor's degrees, a ton of volunteer hours, and I've been working as a public servant (educator) for 10 years. You'd think I'd be a great candidate. I'm feeling very frustrated and disheartened at this point and terrified I'm not getting in.

I was interviewed at the end of March, and was told I'd hear back in 2-4 weeks. I'll be hitting the 4 week mark tomorrow, although it seems like many people who just got accepted had to wait longer than that. Fingers crossed for everyone waiting for some kind of news! This is a tough process.

Hey guys! I've been following this thread for several months but just made an account. I interviewed on 3/28 and I wasn't one of the people who heard back yesterday. Getting super anxious!!! If they're getting ready for the next round of interviews does that mean everyone who interviewed prior and hasn't heard back did not get in?

Congrats to everyone who got accepted y'all are awesome!!

Hey @maryam23997! To answer your question, not necessarily! I interviewed mid-March and people who interviewed at the end of March were accepted before I was! I waited 6 long weeks before I was officially accepted. Don't lose hope!

I got my acceptance yesterday! So happy. My TEAS score wasn't so great, 78 overall and just barely at the 75 mark in a couple sections. My overall GPA was 3.6 and nursing GPA 3.4. They said they liked my personal statement and my interview went very well. Don't give up hope yall. I applied for summer and was waitlisted and now I am accepted for fall, and my scores aren't the best. Just keep trying.

I'm pretty sure you are going to get in. Most applicants with that kind of background, GPA, TEAS score will most likely get in. I've read from other forums that most people who are interviewed have a very high chance of getting in. Especially the ones that inteviewed early.

Thank you I appreciate that. It's just such a rollercoaster and it's up and down with who they do and don't take. The previous semesters on these forms have people with 4.0s and experience in health care who didn't get in. The longer it takes to here the more nervous I get. I'm trying to be positive and usually I do a better job but this week has been very hard.
