UTMB FALL 2014

Published

I would like to start a thread for UTMB FALL 2014 since there I cannot find one. I am in the process of applying and this is the only school I am applying to. Right now, I just trying to finish my personal statement before I can submit it. I am a bit nervous and excited at the same time. So, how is everyone else doing?

Congrats on the interview invite @kchua. I think my interview went well thank you for asking @lacyaaaus. Like everyone has said in the past posts its not intimidating at all but of course I was still nervous. The guy at the front desk was extremely nice and he gave me two informative packets about the school and apartments that I'm sure everyone else also received. The packet in the school stated that one of the things to expect after your interview is that "you will be notified via email within the next 4-6 weeks of your admission status" this is the only part that confuses me since from what I understood, I thought that you would know your status within 4-7 weeks after receiving your mystar account. Either way I'm going to remain patient since my interviewer reassured me that I will find out shortly. The interview was one on one and the man I spoke with was, like everyone else, extremely nice. He explained that after his interview with me that he would fill out a piece of paper and that will be considered as a factor in my acceptance. For those of you who are approaching your interview dates, don't worry if you think you bombed it, the interview is only another piece to the puzzle and it wont make or break you. Like past posts have stated, I was told that around 500-600 people applied and interviews are just a way to weave them out. My interviewer also told me that they ask about 50 people to be on the waitlist and that in the past some of those people have found out very last minute whether or not they were accepted. I hope this helped out a little, and good luck to everyone!

I interviewed on a Thursday and got my acceptance via MyStar on the following Tuesday. So it's pretty quick after your interview if they are a for sure about you.

@inspiredbynavy: Sorry this is a late response! I received my interview invite on 3/3/14.

Glad to hear everyone's interviews have been going smoothly! I have been super anxious about mine. I have through spring break to prepare, yet I have no idea what is the best way to do so :/ Any tips? Maybe I should ask myself some questions out loud and answer them? It's nice to hear everyone has been so nice and that the interviews have been laid-back, I just feel like I have no idea what to expect :/ I think my nerves are getting the best of me! Also, is anyone else finishing up pre-reqs this semester? :) I feel so behind! I can't wait to get these last few classes finished and out of the way! :) Have a great weekend everyone!

If you google nursing school interview tips there's a thread on allnurses regarding potential interview questions. But honestly, I think just be yourself. There's no way to know everything they are going to ask you. Take a breath and think about the question before you answer it. You'll do fine! My interview is tomorrow morning!

@kchua7: Thank you so much for the advice :) You're right, the best thing to do is be yourself. Good luck with your interview tomorrow!!! You're going to do great!!! :)

Don't prepare..just go in with some questions you may need answered and that's it. It's totally relaxed and laid back I promise. Nothing to stress over at all.

@raidergirl95: Thank you so much!! That makes me feel so much better to hear that these interviews have been laid back and relaxed. It really helps with the nerves! Thanks so much again!

Also, I know this has already been asked a few times on here, but to those of you who are planning on moving to Galveston, have you checked out any places yet? My friend and I have been searching online but we hope to be able to look around some while I'm down there for the interview. Just curious if any places have stuck out to anyone :)

I couldn't agree more with @raidergirl95. Very relaxed interview. Just ask your own questions.

@Bg123: Thank you!!! I really appreciate y'all replying! I'm beginning to feel a lot better about it :)

We drove around..spent the night before the interview there. The cleanest nicest ones were Isle of the Cove I think. They are gated and brand new.

@crazykiwi692 you're welcome! Glad I can help. I was so nervous as well, but it is easy. Don't worry!

@raidergirl95: I think I know what you're talking about!! I will definitely check that one out :) thanks so much! Who knows, maybe some of us will end up being neighbors! Lol!

@Bg123: Thanks again! And yeah I was going to ask how yours went but I wasn't sure if you had it yet! I bet it feels nice to finally have it out of the way. I'm sure you did great! :)
