I wanted to start a thread for those applying for UTMB's 2012 accelerated nursing program. The application is open April 1-July 15. I was told invites for interviews start after the application is closed and interviews start end July-August. Does anyone have any additional information? Has anyone applied before? Know of any interview questions? Please share everything you know!!!!!!!

I am, and I'm almost done! December 7th is my last scheduled clinical day. Woo hoo!!! :lol2:Now just gotta pass NCLEX and find a job!

What is the typical timeline after finishing clinicals to taking NCLEX to getting license and a job?

Sarah21063 that is great! Any additional information you want to pass on would be great! Did you get any breaks in between your semesters? If so, how long were they?

@AC123TX: Most of my classmates are already well into their job search, and several have gotten their first interview. I haven't heard of anyone actually getting a job yet, but I'm sure that will happen very soon. We were told that the earliest we should sit for NCLEX is the second half of January.

@ttnncc: We got about a week to a week and a half between semesters. There is also Spring Break (1 week) and Thanksgiving break (1 week) but in the Spring you will most likely have a test the Tuesday after you come back, so everyone will be studying, and during Thanksgiving break, you can elect to try to get some of your clinicals out of the way if you want. I'm not working during Thanksgiving, though. I'm taking full advantage of the break - I need it!

So glad you shared that info! I wouldn't have thought about reapplying for the fall semester.. I thought since you fill out the FAFSA one time per year and because the program is only a year that was all we could get. I didn't think of breaking it down by the ACADEMIC year. That will be a huge help!

Hi everyone. I was just accepted to the Bacc2 program and wanted to post on here real quick. I am still waiting on the info packet from admissions. What all does it include?

I am in the BACC2 program with Sarah. Glad to see everyone getting excited!

We take our exit exam 2 weeks from today and then just have to finish up our final preceptorship. The job search has already begun and I know some people, myself included, just got their first notification about interviews today!

Exciting! You and Sarah21063 will have to let us know how your job interviews go. The woman that I interviewed with for the BACC2 program told me that the UTMB BACC2 students do very well finding jobs after finishing the program. That's a huge selling point, as far as I'm concerned.
