Hi everyone... I am wondering if any of you who have applied to UTMB or go to UTMB know what the competitive GPA was?
I am especially interested in the accelerated (bacc2) program. My undergrad GPA was a 3.23 and my pre-req gpa is about a 3.4. I have 5 yrs experience as a pharmacy tech and I've worked in social work positions. I wonder if this is competitive?

I recently applied to UTMB's SON. Can anyone tell me if they will mail a transcript evaluation showing what classes were used in determining the Nursing Prereq. and Science GPA's? Thanks!
DMDTX, I'm not sure if they will mail such information to you, but you could probably find out by calling the preadmissions advisor. She is very nice and helpful.
Thanks, BrittRN2b. I just called UTMB SON and spoke to X the preadmission's advisor. X was out of the office. She told me that they do conduct unofficial transcript evaluations on request only.
Furthermore, she explained to me that while they do evaluate GPA, they look deeper into the numbers such as:
Where were the prereqs taken? - at a community college or 4-year university.
Amount of hours you took each semester

Has anyone heard anything yet? They told me 2 weeks ago that they were meeting last week.
Let us know as soon as you hear anything!
Still waiting too.
Just an update: I called utmb the other day and they said that next week the committee is meeting again. So some of you might be hearing something sooner than later... HOPEFULLY... On a side note, she said they were reviewing 600-700 applicants for the remaining few spots. Somthing like 35-45 are left. Good luck to you all!
I called too and found out that the committee is meeting next Monday and then again during end of May. Also, I learned for the fall 2007 class the 120 spots are composed of 90 full time (2 yr program) and 30 part time students (3 yr program). When your application is reviewed the committee decides whether to admit you into the full or part-time program. Good luck to everyone!
