UTMB Accelerated BSN Summer 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

The application opened for this program just opened the other day, and I wanted to see if I could reach out to anyone else applying!

I've submitted my application, and took the TEAS V Test this morning!

I graduated Texas A&M with a Biology Degree this year and during completion of this degree I realized Nursing is where I want to be! Hope to hear from others!

I saw that... I hope that they are running our of applicants so we can all get in...lol.... now, we have to wait even longer :(

Peppered, you are right, I just checked on NursingCAS and the deadline is extended to 03 January, 2013. They must have received few applications. We have to probably wait until after the January deadline before we hear anything.

This is getting a little ridiculous.

Just an update, I emailed about what to expect for the timeline since there was a deadline extension and I was told that they hope to start interviews in the latter part of January. After that, they will start sending out communication over a span of several weeks.

No news yet... still waiting... maybe next week...

Does everyone has an access to "MyStar"? I keep logging in to "MyStar" because I remember last time, as soon as their decision is out, "MyStar" log in was denied.... it simply means I was rejected... I applied to the Traditional BSN- Spring 2013 because I learned that both BSN accelerated and BSN traditional will graduate at the same time anyways... so, I called them up after my access form "MyStar" has been removed and received the rejection letter... I asked them why I was rejected, they were nice to tell me it was due to my one "F" grade... I was not aware I have an "F" grade.... I checked the Nursing CAS and it was there but not on my transcripts at hand... I went to the Community College and spoke to the dean and had the "F" removed...community college said, it was a computer error...it caused me rejection from UTMB.... then, I called UTMB to explain what happened... UTMB allowed me to access "MyStar" page again with the green circle application saying "completed"... had to deal with NursingCAS to correct it from my records... NursingCAS is difficult to deal with... it took me 2.5 months of follow up to get that all straighten out...

So, now i keep checking the "MyStar".... if my access is denied, now i know why..... ;)

Do you mean the error of the F on transcript and nursingcas? Or because of the F grade you made in a particular course?

Cuz I made a F too for my genetics class during college...

I am a foreign grad. I did not receive "f" in the foreign school. I attended 2 community colleges here. One community college made an error and retained an "F" in a class I never attended. It was in my "basket " during enrollment and I was not aware I was enrolled. Then I received an "f".... In short it was their error. The "f" was removed from my transcript. I never received an "f" during my college years..its. a case to case basis maybe

Your case maybe different from my case. They are more concerned with the most recent course you took.

Hi nurse10, it must be frustrating to have an "F" on your transcript when you did not actually receive such a grade. I hope things will work out alright this time around. Few days after I submitted my supplemental application, I received three emails with my password and user name. Since then I can access My STR and I also see the green button. Although I am very much interested n the summer entry, I am applying for both the summer and fall entry, just trying to increase my chance of being admitted. Are you also applying for the fall, 2013 entry?

Hi gwin2015! I am afraid if I am not accepted in the summer 2013, I will have to stop my application and rethink my plans. I applied to UHV, rejected after attending the interview. Then, applied to UTHSCSA, (do not think I will be accepted since the profile showed they accepted 4 Asians last semester - their decision will be announced this week or so). Applied to UTMB Spring 2012, Fall 2012, then now Summer 2013. In UTMB, on my first rejection, they said my courses were incomplete, second rejection was the discrepancy in my transcript, and now. This summer 2013 is my last application. If they think I am not fit for their school, what would make them change their mind in fall 2013. I have completed all the courses they asked me to take with a GPA of 3.8.

My story is quite long and painful (if only the nursing school knows about it)... I was attending HCC taking ADN, was discriminated so I left (long story). I saw an ad in Houston paper, Omnibus School (the school that was closed by Texas Board). I attended Omnibus. Passed the LPN board and was only allowed to practice in a couple of states. So, I moved to Michigan with my 2 kids. I worked for 2 years there and decided to go back in Texas to go back in school. I moved back here in March 2012 and had been attending school full time. I have completed all the classes and now running out of options and budget too.

UTMB summer 2013 is my last hope and if not accepted, I have to move back in Michigan to support my kids. Then, maybe someday, I may consider going back in my home country to complete BSN. We do not have the punishing process of application to Nursing School like USA have.

Hi nurse 101010, I strongly encourage you to consider applying to UTMB for fall, 2013. Since you have already applied for summer 2013, there is no extra application fee charged by NursingCAS, you don't have to order another TEAS transcript and also there is no need to order for official transcript. The only thing, you need to pay for the supplemental application fee (second time). By applying for the fall 2013, there is nothing you lose. I were you, I will go ahead and apply for the traditional BSN too. Nowadays, admission to nursing schools is so competitive that I decided to apply to several schools to increase my chance of being accepted. I have even included ADN programs as a backup. Never give up, remain positive and optimistic. Good luck!

Thanks for your words of encouragement gwin2015. I am trying my best to stay positive. It is just exhausting that my future relies on the school's acceptance. I wish I can stay until fall 2013 but I cannot put my kids life on hold too... I salute your tenacity and perseverance. I wish you the best of luck and I do hope we will all get accepted this Summer 2013. As of now, my future plans will depend upon the school's January decision...
