I'm considering going to nursing school through the Baptist Health System in San Antonio or UTHSCSA. Most people I get advice from tell me hands down to go for UTHSCSA. I would like to hear from more of you who are currently enrolled or have gone through the nursing school program at either one of these locations in San Antonio. What did you like about the teachers, faculty, the content you were learning, etc. What were your hours like at school and if you had kids, how did you manage your time.
I am still a pre-nursing student and have one more semester in Spring of 2014 to complete before I can apply. I am very excited and just want to know more information. Also, a close family friend is attending nursing school at Wayland Baptist and informed me that their nursing program is shutting down. Is there any truth to this?
It does. Apparently nursing cas never received one transcript. So the admissions told me I was no longer eligible. And no one can tell me why no one said anything until a month after deadlines.
Nooooo! I know you must be bummed.
I can't stand the NursingCas system and I don't know how many people have to experience problems in order for UTHSCSA to dump them. I BARELY received an email TODAY saying my transcripts were verified. What if they had not been? Would I have lost my admission chances to UTHSCSA? When I first mailed my transcripts, I literally called NursingCas everyday and became a thorn in their side until they finally let me know they received them. I know that is not possible for everyone, especially if you work full time and/or have kiddos. Plus, we should not have to do that if we pay $45 bucks for them to take their sweet time in verifying.
To be honest, I don't think I got in anyway. I made an overall TEAS score of 73 and my math portion wasn't even enough to get into Baptist Health System. I have to schedule the TEAS exam again but I'm waiting to confirm with what UT says. I've done my best to stay off my email and not think about it too much. What will happen will happen. There is always the next application deadline.
And have you thought about applying to their Accelerated BSN program in Dec?

I am pretty bummed out. I started to feel confident that I had a chance, even though I scored a 73 too on the TEAS because of my good grades. I just don't get why nursingcas waited this long to say there was an issue. I emailed and tried calling several times. And the one transcript that's all of a sudden missing was also sent in twice.
Hopefully you'll get in! I'll be taking the TEAS again too once I find out about Baptist. They don't require the one transcript that UTHSCSA required. (It was my military transcript).
Also, I took a look today at nursing cas for the next application cycle and they've changed it for next cycle. Now they have added what was sent out on the supplemental application and residency form as part of the regular application. So if Baptist doesn't want me, I'll be applying again for the Fall.
As for the Accelerated BSN program, I thought that was just for people that have a previous bachelor's degree?

No, I don't believe it is only for people with a bachelors. It's like taking the regular BSN nursing program only it's accelerated and only takes 18 months. It's everything crammed into a shorter time frame. I've heard it's very demanding but you'll be finished faster!

"The Accelerated BSN Program is 15 months in length and moves at a faster pace than the Traditional BSN program. Additionally, to be considered eligible for the Accelerated BSN Program, applicants must currently hold or attain a non-nursing baccalaureate degree prior to the start of the nursing program."

Thanks for the clarification. Guess I was thinking it was like that because a friend of mine did her prerequisite courses at a community college, and she did not have a bachelors degree, and was accepted into an Accelerated BSN course but it was through wayland baptist.

Oh no. I hope it doesn't affect your admission process.
