UTHSCSA Spring 2016

Published

I'm considering going to nursing school through the Baptist Health System in San Antonio or UTHSCSA. Most people I get advice from tell me hands down to go for UTHSCSA. I would like to hear from more of you who are currently enrolled or have gone through the nursing school program at either one of these locations in San Antonio. What did you like about the teachers, faculty, the content you were learning, etc. What were your hours like at school and if you had kids, how did you manage your time.

I am still a pre-nursing student and have one more semester in Spring of 2014 to complete before I can apply. I am very excited and just want to know more information. Also, a close family friend is attending nursing school at Wayland Baptist and informed me that their nursing program is shutting down. Is there any truth to this?

I'm doing my prerequisites at North West Vista. I'm thinking of applying to both.

I'm at NWVista too!

Oh, wow! Maybe I know you or am taking classes with you. MY name is Cindy. Are you taking any math stats or chem courses this semester?

I took chemistry with Ron reaoch

I took Reaoch too! I really liked him and Im bummed I didn't sign up in time to have him this semester. I'm taking chem II with Prasad.

Hi cici8304...I did my pre-reqs at NVC as well, and have just finished my first semester at UTHSCSA...I love it! I would absolutely recommend going straight for your BSN rather than through Baptist. PM me if you have questions I can answer!

Thank you so much and good luck at UTHSCSA!!! I can't wait till I can say the same thing!

I just applied for the Fall 2015 class today. I am nervous!!! I have 2 toddlers to deal with and am currently in school to become a Lactation Consultant. I really would like to know about how tough nursing school is!

I have two little ones also so I know the struggle! But we can do it!!! :)

So, do you have to go through nursing school to be a Lactation Consultant? And that's a wonderful profession. If it wasn't for the lactation specialist at my hospital, I don't know that I would have continued breastfeeding. They are some amazing people.

I am currently a UTHSCSA student. I love it. I am a mom, and I will say it is very time consuming, however it is a wonderful school. Our professors are really great, there is a real unity among the student body. I have learned so much, and I feel that the school goes to great measures to make sure you get a lot of experience, they really want you to succeed.

What is everyone using to study for the TEAS exam? I've heard of some practice exams available to prepare.

I have the ATI study manual. It came with two practice tests. I took one yesterday and my score was pretty decent so I'm not going to hardcore study. I'm taking the test 06/05. What about y'all?

Also I hope we get some more people on this thread!!!
