I haven't seen a thread for the Health Science Center in San Antonio, so I decided to create one since I am curious as to when we will find out if we are accepted or not. I am very nervous! I really want to go to this school but I know a couple of people that didn't get accepted from previous terms that had a better GPA or a better TEAS V score than I do. I am praying!!!
They decide who gets in by a combined score based on the TEAs (59%), Math/Science GPA (30%), Cumulative (10%), Supp App (1%). Since the supp app is only worth 1%, I think they already know who is getting accepted and who is getting wait listed, unless you don't send your supp app in. So out of the 203 that were qualified, 15-20 won't get there supp app in on time. So drop it down to 183, then you can count on probably 10-15 people not accepting their acceptance. So that leaves you with 168. Little better probability. Other then the first part on how they score us being true, the other part is just my theory. It helps me sleep better at night thinking that only 18 of us won't get acceptance verses 53. Feel free to think this way as well. You might be able to sleep a little better. LOL...
I like the way you think
I like to think that way, so I could take a chill pill... I'd be happy, if I would at least put me on the waitlist, like you said there are people who do not choose UTHCSA as their first choice; therefore, they wouldn't wanna be paying for the seating fee and I would hope that there are about 10 of those people then there would be some room for me to squeeeeeze in
Plus I heard that they accepted 157 last year, so maybe they will be nice this year too? :)
I really appreciate you posting that jvj440!! That was really good to know, nerve wrecking but good lol.. Skydivechic I really love your method of thinking and I will relax a little bit now reading your post. It makes me nervous cause I made 69 on my teas but my math and science was a 3.4 and my cumulative was 3.3 when I spoke with the school they said I was a competitive applicant, but I know their are a lot of students with way higher teas scores, so I'm super nervous! On my app I put how I've been a cna at a hospital for the past 4 years and what experience I have gained from being there and how all my prev jobs have been in medical field. I hope this helps my chances!!
Ugh, my 1st year nursing salary is all going to go to repaying my debt for this application process!
Sad to say, but the application portion is nothing compared to the first semester O_o
Laptop is approx $1500-2000.00 and mandatory
Books are about $1100
Set of scrubs can run 100$ or more depending on how many you get
Shoes are about 100$ and they require a specific style
Stethoscope is about 75$
....and then add tuition
I might be forgetting some stuff, but the basic gist is that the first semester is about $3000 in fees alone before you even count tuition. We also still have the seat reservation fee which is 250-500$ but I believe it applies toward the cost of the laptop once you are completely admitted. Gotta start saving now :/
