UTHSCSA Spring 2011 Hopefuls

Published

hello all,

guess i'll get our thread started. i've watched these over the last few semesters, and it's a great way to share information and get to know each other.

i applied earlier this month, and got an e-mail this evening letting me know that i am eligible regarding my prerequisites. i was surprised to get something back so quickly since the deadline is july 1. anyway, that's the first step in the process...a long, long process. :) hopefully, there will be plenty of us on here to keep each other company.

look forward to getting through this process with you.

Hello!

I just found this thread, I had been previously following other applicants and decided to look up who I might be applying with :)

I have also received an invitation to take the teas test and have taken it before, so here's some info for you guys from what I remember.

I took this test about a year ago, what it is a test divided into sections such as reading, math, science. If you have been out of high school for a while, I recommend you pick up a practice guide from ATI or McGraw-Hill. Even if you haven't, I have been out for 2 years and have a relative ease when it comes to this sort of test, I'm still picking up a study guide to better my score. The questions are basic, Math has a bit of algebra and equations so just take a glance at an equation chart as a refresher and you'll be fine. That was the section I found most people had trouble with, along with some geology questions in the Science part.

Good luck to all of you, I'm taking my teas on the 6th so wish me luck!

welcome hpaola! good luck on the test.

where the heck is everyone. i figured this tread would have a lot more traffic by now. how's everyone doing on their TEAS?

Well I don't know where everyone else is, but I am busy with my kids and my summer classes! :) I am signed up to take the TEAS on the 20th though, so I'll let you know how it went after I take it. Do we get results right away? I don't know... I am nervous, but excited to get this all done with! I just got two more A's this summer with my summer courses, so hopefully that helps a little too! I'll send in my transcript again to UTHSCSA. How are things going for you?

going well here. finished my chem II with an A over the weekend, and my last micro class is tomorrow. should pull an A in that one too. summers are so busy...i have kids at home too. glad the program doesn't have summer classes. :) i finally finished my immunizations yesterday. got it in both arms with hep A in one and hep B in the other. so happy to be done with them.

good luck on the TEAS. you won't get the results at the testing center, but you should be able to access them after a few hours from the ATI website.

oh yeah...and important to remember to send the transcript. glad you reminded me.

Hi All,

I finally found this page! I take my TEAS test this week & I look forward to getting to know all of you :)

Hey Ladies, I haven't heard from anyone but I'm going to announce my TEAS results becasue I can hardly believe it! I got an 89.4%!! I hope that is good enough to make it. I have a 3.88 GPA but I know that they care more about the TEAS. I don't know, I was hoping for a 90% but I'll take the 89.4 I guess! Anyone else done with the TEAS?

nice job collins030505! with your gpa and TEAS score, sound like you're in a good position. i got a 91.2 when i took it, but my gpa is only around a 3.65. i'm hoping that will be good enough to get me in. as i was poking around on the nursing school website, i found the student profile for fall 2010. it basically gives the breakdown of the students admitted to the program. here's a shortlist of what's on it:

no. admitted 124

avg. age 25

avg. gpa 3.6 (4.0)

avg. TEAS 82.4 (100)

avg. essay 13 (15)

i know that the TEAS score carries the greatest weight, followed by the gpa. i'm not sure how they score the essays, but they are worth about 5% of the overall score. i guess it all really depends on how competitive the other applicants are this semester as to where we will fall. hopefully we will get good news when they start sending out acceptance letters. i understand that should be in september, and it would be nice if it were earlier in the month rather than later. :)

Keili30- That is most excellent investigative work there Watson! I looked on their website too but didn't find anything like what you found. Well it looks like both of us should be good to go (according to last semester's profile!). With a TEAS of 91.2 and a good GPS, I would find it weird for them to not accept you. A 91.2 must put you in the 99th percentile, right? That's perfect, average age is 25 and I'll be 25 on Sept 11! Woo Hoo, I'm so excited to be average! Well here's to waiting for the letters of ACCEPTANCE!

ok all...the deadline has passed to take the TEAS. hope everyone did well. now we just wait. good luck!

THis is weird to me that this board is so empty! :( All the other semsters have been packed with people posting. Weird. I wonder if it's any indication as to how many people applied this semester or if it's simply that not a lot of people know about this message board. Well I am dying to know if I made the cut. When I called to check that they received my TEAS scores, I asked when we'd be getting letters. They said the first OR second week of September. Gosh darn it, I hope they send them out the FIRST week. I'll die if I have to wait. Well I hope that I can find out before my birthday on the 11th, we're going out of town and I'll be so mad if the letter comes while I'm gone, not to mention that I will be thinking about it the whole time.

i know...i was thinking the same thing about how we haven't had much action. who knows what the reason is. my birthday in next month as well...the 30th. hopefully, it will get one of the best gifts ever. :)

good to know we won't have to wait that long.
