UTHSCSA Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone, I know the deadline is approaching for the application. I turned mine in a while back but just took my TEAS recently. I wanted to create this forum so we can all share our stats and any possible updates on acceptance and such!

Hi I'm new to this website and to applying! I just took my TEAS and I got a 76.7 and I'm hoping it's competitive enough for the schools I'm applying to. I have a 3.3 cumulative GPA and a 3.6 Science and Math GPA. I'm applying to UT Health Science Center SA, UIW, and the SAC Nursing programs. But I know you get points for having experience. I have a CNA licence and I work at Methodist for a year now, I hope that gives me an edge considering my TEAS is low compared to all the 85 and aboves I've been seeing on past semester and year posts.

Just wanted to pop in and wish you all luck! I'm in my fourth week of the program (just took my first exam today). Let me know if you have any questions!

Following!! You know my stats:) is your application in a verified status? Since you did yours awhile back.. I'm just curious as to what your application status looks like. I turned mine in 2.5 weeks ago and it's been completed and now it's verified.

Hello ladies, I am pretty nervous too! Just submitted my application this past weekend. Teas 85.3 (did the worst on the english part lol). Math/Science GPA 3.63 and overall 3.54 for my Bachelor's. Finishing my Masters in Biology this summer. Hoping to get into the program this fall at UTHSCSA. Hope what I have is good enough to do it! Does anyone know about when we find out if we got in or not?

Hello! I too am freaking out! I have a gps of 3.8 in math and science and overall. I did not do well on my TEAS though. I only got a 73. I have been so disappointed since then and feel like I won't get in anywhere. I realIy hope to get into UT but also applied to TLU as a back up plan. Fingers crossed for all of us!

Hi, so I was looking at previous threads and the same trend appears that it takes about 4-6 weeks. So I'm predicting like after March 15th?

I have also heard of UTHSC sending out an email sometime around this week or next week just stating that they received the application and they are looking at it.

I too am finishing my bachelors in Biology this May :)

We did not get a "received application" email, FYI

Also, make sure that you've completed your FAFSA - even if you don't plan on applying for grants or loans, you can't turn in a scholarship application without a FAFSA.

Thank you Jen!

So I will be getting my bachelors in May so I won't get the Pell Grant and I've never used any of my loans through my 4 year degree.

Do you know of theirs other grants for need based people? Also did you feel there was plenty of scholarships?

Thank you Jen!

Yes, there are. There was a nursing grant, then an additional grant (I can't remember the name of it). I'm not sure about scholarships - it's all one application that you submit and the rest happens behind the scenes.

Thank You that is comforting to know, I am a need based student but because i will have a degree i don't qualify for the Pell Grant after this semester.

Do we have to get our own stethoscope?

(If we do, that's what i will ask for as a grad gift, of course if i get in) :)

There are stethoscopes you can check out, and those that are available in lab.
