UTHSCSA Fall 2018

Published

I have applied to UTHSCSA and UIW Fall 2018... is there anyone else who is applying or has sent in their apps?? What are your stats?

To sum it up, I've heard professors/admin staff seem to not care about student success. This is a copy & paste of part of a comment I read on another thread from a student who attends the program currently.

"To be honest my cohort and all other cohorts I've spoken with (both traditional and accelerated) are extremely unhappy and disappointed with UTHSCSA, to say the least. The school puts so little effort into slapping together classes and has made it clear they hold little regard or respect for you as a student.

I'm not saying any of this to scare you or bash UTHSCSA - I am simply being upfront and honest, which is something severely lacking from the administration in the school of nursing.

Expect to survive all classes on your own/with your classmates and not to be supported by UTHSCSA what-so-ever. Also, don't be surprised when the administration is incredibly rude, patronizing, dishonest, and lazy when it comes to addressing any questions, responding to students, or providing anything they promised. Especially Dr. ONeal, who is THE worst. "

BUT - I have also encountered some students that have said the program is not all that bad sooo, either way, I think I may just go ahead and give this program a go.

That's not been my experience at all. I certainly have my frustrations with certain things, like any program, but support (emotional, academic, etc) isn't one of them.

I'm so happy for you guys!!! Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can help in any way!

Someone up thread asked about the schedule, so I'll answer here - you take all your lectures together as a cohort. The labs (you have two a week - health assessment and foundations lab) are at different times. One you can register for early or late, the other you get assigned.

Also, the reason that they have you do a summer class now (Med-Surg) is to get you that experience before you take care of OB and beyond. I WISH we had the option of taking Med-Surg this summer, I'd jump at it.

Ugh OB is my fave I can't waittt

Jen I was just wondering if Ms. Wilbon emails you back acknowledging that she got the acceptance to the offer? I sent mine in yesterday but I just wanna make sure nothing goes wrong

Jen or anybody? Thoughts on part time jobs. I was thinking of getting one on campus, like research or something since I'm use to doing research.

We worked with someone else, and he did acknowledge receipt of everything we sent over. I imagine you'll get some sort of notification about your acceptance being received. Just give them a bit of time :)

I didn't have a job this semester, but plenty of people did. They do have jobs through work study programs, they also have a research grant program, but that won't start until next summer for you guys.

You can also look at jobs in hospitals, like a tech position. It'll be great experience for your first semester clinicals.

Hey guys does anybody know if we have to re-do fingerprints for UT health? I did mine for UIW, gor rhe blue card in the mail but will be denying that and going to ut instead

If you already have your blue card, you don't have to do the process again.

I received a confirmation today!

Awesome, so it is manageable enough and to get good grades right?

I received an email confirming that she received my papers this morning, so I'm sure you'll get one too :)

Thank you Jen! Sorry y'all my phone doesn't let me hit reply :/
