I know it's early, but I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning to apply to UTHSC for the Summer 2015 session. I am hoping to go the Pacesetter route. I currently have a degree in Communications and I'm finally able to change careers and follow my dream. I'm a high-school teacher that will be resigning in June when the school year ends. I have a lot of prereqs already taken, but have a few to go, as well. I'm currently taking Intro to Pscyh online, will take Lifespan in May, and Intro to Soci and and A&P I & II over the summer.
If you are applying to start in this summer session too, please join in the discussion! We'll need to lean on each other as we go through this tough (but wonderful) process!
Anyone else out there?
Good Luck in advance!
Wow that is a blessing, have you made a decision?
Hi Guys! I made a decision the next day and decided to accept! I'm very excited! The way everything happened made me realize God opened this door for a reason and I need to take it! I'm very excited and nervous and very fearful, but cannot wait to begin! Good luck to everyone! Do not give up! :)
Hi TX2015.
Did your Humanities class count towards the philosophy requirement? I have plenty of humanities courses and truly hoping to avoid taking a philosophy course.
Also, you mentioned getting a transcript evaluation. Can you please tell me who I need to contact to have this done. Thanks.

Hi guys,
Call this number for your evaluation 713-500-3341. PM if you need the name of someone to call. I'm glad to help! :)
Yes - my humanities courses did count for philosophy .....but they said it was only because I already had a BS degree from another state. If you have a degree - you should be fine. If not - I would still push to see if they will accept it. They had overlooked several of my classes in the transcript evaluation and quickly corrected them after I pointed out the mistakes. Good luck!
Hi Xipp & TX2015.
Thank you both for responding.
The crazy thing is that I had called the SON & the registrars office and got two different answers.
A lady named Joann in the SON office said they can not provide a transcript evaluation, until my HESI score is submitted.
According to her, then and only then, will they ask the Registrars office to do an evaluation.
I also asked her about the Philosophy course to see if my Humanities course would work and she was very direct and said "No, only intro to philosophy & or intro to ethics will count".
Ugh.
So...I don't know.
I have a BS and tons of Humanities courses and really would love to skip intro to ugh!!!
As to your offer, I would really appreciate the name and dept of the person whom you feel can help.
Hopefully, then and only then will I truly get an answer in regards to the Humanities course.
Thanks in advance for both of your help. :)
Hello everyone,
I am applying to UTHSC for summer 2016. I would like to know how the meeting times for classes are organized. I'm trying to plan ahead if I'm accepted (my scores and grades are great, so I'm hoping!) Specifically, will I be in class everyday of the week? On the days that I am in class, will it be all day? I know schedules change a lot and your schedule will be different from what mine may be - but I'll be working the first two weeks that classes meet. I have sick days to use and will use them for the days we are in class, I just need to know how many I have to save (potentially up to 10). I'm changing careers from teaching to nursing. I'll be retiring from the classroom at the end of this school year and want to spend my saved days so that in the end, I won't have any left in the bank.
Thanks!
