UTHSC SON Accepted into accelerated

Published

Hello-

If you have been accepted into the UT Health Science Center School of Nursing Accelerated program and have questions/comments about the whole process-post here! We can all get through these hoops together:yeah:

no idea im just having my mom drop me off because i live down the street, I'm anxious!

I'm having my boyfriend drop me off because I live close too! We're like young kids being dropped off :) It saves money and stress of parking, and will give us a little extra sleep!

No problem guys. I'm glad my friend and I were able to help answer some of your questions. One more thing I forgot to add was that at the end of the orientation, there's a map that goes around for everyone to pinpoint their locations. This map is used for carpool purposes. Plus, you'll get to see if any of your classmates live nearby....perhaps a future study buddy!

prasmasters: I agree about the ID badges. The lighting at that place is terrible. I imagine one would have to be extremely photogenic in order to have a great picture as a result. Luckily for me, the lady who took my picture let me preview the pic first before she made the badge. So, my picture was pretty decent :D.

As for parking, it is extremely expensive to park in the nearby garages. I usually park in the Brown lot located on North Braeswood and William C. Harvin. You can park your car in the visitor lot, get this little token that will serve as your timed ticket in and out the parking lot, and you can then ride the free shuttle titled White to school. If you guys ride the shuttle, the nursing school will be your second stop on the bus. If you're up for some early exercise, you could also just walk to school from the parking lot. The estimated time is 10-15 minutes.

Have fun during orientation guys. Let me know how it goes.

OK I know this is last minute, but if anyone lives in the Woodlands and wants to carpool with me, Im game! As far as parking, I am not sure where I will park but will look into doing the brown lot probably as oppa was saying and then using the shuttle bus. How early do you think I should leave in order to find parking and arive on time by 8:30? Argh Im so anxious lol!

How long does it take to drive from the Woodlands? I would leave a half hour to park and shuttle. Don't freak out, though! Tomorrow will be fun and hopefully they can answer some of our concerns over everything being last minute!!!:D

Sorry, just wanted to edit that the brown lot is located at South Braeswood and William C. Harvin.

The parking rates are:

1-4 hours = $1

4-6 hours = $2

more than 6 hours: $6

HI All!

I am hoping that a few of us can do Sun. evening drinks this week...I am not sure yet where but there should so far be about 5 of us and any others that would like to come please PM me-also, invite friends! Total credit for this excellent idea must be given to Seven14-but I thought I would start organizing it:chuckle

We can all relax and get to know each other a bit. Someone said to me last night that if she did not know that 100 people had already graduated from the program she would not think that it was possible because there is already so much to do

Heya Javagabby(Laura)-

We need to talk about the carpooling situation and/or using the Woodlands Park and Ride before Wednesday comes! Either message me on here, facebook, Thanks!

Does anyone know, do we have to have our badge by Wednesday? I still dont have mine...was planning on getting after the HA orientation from 9-12 :/

is there free parking anywhere ? someone told me about a lot but I can't find it

I thought I found a place to park free but a security guard showed up the other day and told us we couldnt park there. So now we park at the Hou Museum of Fine Arts parking garage. Its $3/day and then we ride the rail for $0.60 (half price because we're students). I think its pretty reasonable. If you find out where a free lot is let me know!

I don't know if any of you guys look at this forum anymore, but I have applied for UT Houston's accelerated program starting this summer. I was wondering if any of you guys or anyone you know worked during the program. Is it possible to work even just a few hours a week? Thanks in advance for any info!
