UTHSC-Houston Spring 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi,

I am new to allnurses.com and I wanted to start a topic for the Spring 2013 applicants at UTHSC Houston. Where we can keep each other posted on the process as it nears. I have yet to take the HESI but i wonder if anyone else has taken it and what their score was. I will compile my GPA's later and post them on here.

Thanks for your comments

Kekebrwn,I think everything will work out for you. I have previous Bachelor's Degrees as well . Have you applied to any Bacc2 programs. UTHSC-San Antonio deadline is Nov 1. I have applied there as a plan B, But I'm with you I would have tears of joy if I get in! Stay optimistic.....

I had applied to UT's Bacc2 program for this past summer but was denied. I would like to stay in Houston. I will not be able to afford to live outside of Houston really because I am almost on my limit for loans.

So guys, I didnt get accepted to Texas A&M Health Science Center in Bryan, TX. Still waiting for UTHSC

Hi everyone,

I had a question regarding the hesi exam for admissions into UTHSC. What are the subjects of the hesi that they requiere you to take? I have taken reading, vocabulary, math, chemistry, biology, and anatomy, but they were for the RN program at a CC. I called UTHSC and they told me that those scores weren't good for the admissions requierments.

They require at least a 75% but to be competitive you'll want a much higher score than that. You should aim to score in at least the high 80s.

Oh okay, thanks for the info heykim, and oceanise. Have you all applied into the BSN program that they have? Im kind of worried have a 3.5 now as gpa but still need like 5 classes more to finish all my prep-requisites.

i'm waiting on an acceptance or denial notification...

you can start applying as soon as you finish 40hours of the prerequisites, but must have all 60 completed by the start of the semester you apply.

Check out the link i posted, it will give you an applicant check list as well as transfer information. From what everyone has posted UTHSC doesn't look at your over all GPA but rather your transferrable GPA and science GPA.

Try to take your HESI after you've taken A&P 1 & 2 so you have a good base for the A&P sections and study early...it's a lot of material to review so you don't want to cram.

3.5 isn't bad... and you still have the opportunity to bring it up if you want. :) Doing well on your lab science classes (A&P I and II, chem, micro) is very important.

Oh okay Heykim, well wish you luck and hope you get into the program. I have just submitted my application into the university, and I plan to take my hesi exam as soon as I can. If you dont mind me asking what is the transferrable gpa?
