UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Greetings!

I am applying to UTHSC Houston - Fall 2013. Anybody else?

About 75% recommended on each section. I first called the admission office and the lady told me to retake the test (I had everything above 85% with an overall 88.4%, except for my vocabulary which is 74% (#&^#@&*^#*) ). So I just wanted to make sure, I emailed them again stating all my scores and how little my vocabulary score is off from the "recommended." A person named JoAnn replied back told me that I could apply but my HESI score "will not help your admission status." So I guess I should retake it. About how long does it take to submit the score, I wouldn't worried about that because I asked the lady at the testing center and she said the latest for the score to be submitted to the school should be by midnight of the day after the test day (unless the school only take in HESI score on the last day of the month then it would be bad). I'm retaking mine on the 8th. Hope everyone will do well on their application.

But should I risk doing worse on my retake since I have such little time to prepare? The other two schools I'm applying to (HBU and TX A&M) do not consider the critical thinking score in their admissions. I have no idea how long it takes to submit the scores, but if you take it at UTHSC, then it would be at the school already. But if you take it at another school like I did, then maybe 4-6 weeks to be sent with 3-5 days processing.

So im taking the Hesi tomorrow! I am so nervous i wanted to ask what should i expect? I've been going over grammar vocab, math, and A&P this whole week but i still feel like it wasnt enough ... I hope i do well tomorrow, yikes![/quote']

You'll do fine! My advice is do the science portions first then the English section then math. You get to use a calculator for the math and chem. USE IT ALL THE TIME! Might as well!

You're right about the submitting time. I didn't take the test at UT but I registered to have the test sent straight to UT. Would you think you can pay to have the test score sent to the school quicker? I mean I don't know but I guess maybe we can. And yes, it would be a little bit rush to prepare. I debated about whether to retake it too, but this kinda depends on yourself. I'm taking the risk.

Maybe..I already sent my scores to the school 3 weeks ago and I have no clue if they've arrived or not, but since they're on holiday break until the 2nd, I believe, I can't check on my application to see if any transcripts or scores have arrived yet. I'm planning to hopefully send them to TX A&M as well in case they also take that long to be sent.

Ah..okay, I didn't have to the option to have the test sent straight to any schools, I had to email it to the testing company, call in and pay. I'm hoping to get into one of three schools that accept HESI A2 since I didn't take the TEAS.

Good luck to you! Luckily I have a back up plan to double major (since I'm already half done with my degree) if I don't get into nursing school for Fall..but getting in would be nice.

Hi, i just submitted my application to UTHSC-houston about 2 days ago. Does anyone know how long it takes to be processed? I'm worried i'll miss the deadline!

I have a question. I plan on applying to UTHSC but I haven't taken the Hesi yet. I planned on taking it on the 8th of Jan., just before the deadline. Is that enough time to get everything in? I just finished all my prenursing classes on Dec.16th @ HCC, and received my Associates degree in Arts. I didn't want to b taking finals and studying for the hesi at the same time, so I decided to wait. I registered for the hesi through the UT website, does that mean they will receive the scores immediately? I still have to do the application and send my transcript for HCC. I was thinking i can get all that stuff in by the 15th but only if they receive my scores on time. Am I too late? Please help.

I think they only update it periodically if you have things on your "to do list". I submitted my application a few weeks ago, but it still says they haven't received my transcript or HESI A2 scores yet, and I sent those things around the same time as well. The application itself takes a 1-2 days or less to be processed.

If you are taking the HESI at UTHSC then yes, it wil already be available at the school. I think transcripts will take 1-2 weeks since it is the holiday and they may be busy. I am in the same boat with waiting on transcripts and scores to be received. I've mostly just been told to send things as early as possible.

Thanks for replying! I got my user name and password in an email today for myuth, however I can't log on. It seems like there is an error on the page, the login page just keeps refreshing when I press enter. Anyone one else having these problems?

Thanks for replying! I was planning in taking the test at a designated testing location bit I guess I can take it at the school. Do u think they will accept an unofficial transcript until the official comes in? Just so I can have a spot? I'm still very nervous about this hesi exam. Especially the a&p part. There is so much to study, I don't know where to begin or even know what to study. This is my last chance for getting into nursing school. I took the hesi 2 years ago but I took the A&p section first and got a 72 and quit cz I had already failed the test. I have no idea what I didn't prepare for....

I am so confused. I just got a call back from a lady at the registrar's office and I asked her about my transcript and she said it was they have it but an incomplete one because of grades not being posted. So I asked her if i should send another one with all my grade on it (but i'm enrolled for spring as well) and she said yes. So...will it still be considered incomplete if I already enrolled for spring classes even though I have all the grades posted for fall?

I believe they would want an official transcript. I go to U of H and they are able to send it electronically. Also concerning HESI scores, the lady I spoke to at the school said they are not in their offices again until Wednesday and will be sorting out more files by then and to call back Friday after they've had a few days to sort things out.
