Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:
Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75
Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0
Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.
My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -
Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30
Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! )
Overall Gpa: 3.28
Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.
My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.

i am giving up my spot for the fall because i am an out of state student and the tuition was just too much for me to handle. good luck to those of you who are accepted and hopefully one of you guys that arent will get my spot
Jenwilke - Before you give up your spot, trying talking to someone in financial services. I know that there are all kinds of loans out there and LOTS of scholarships at the school. Have you filled out your FAFSA yet?
Does anyone know of a good phone # to get ahold of an actual person?? I've tried 4 different phone #s today from the Admissions office, registrar's office, and two direct lines to Sr. Support Specialist that I have talked to via e-mail during the application process. Left messages for all of them but still no response! I still have no holds, no status change, no e-mail, no letter!
For everyone that got accepted, I have a question...what were your scores on the critical thinking section of the HESI? I made a 830 and I know that is considered a little low so I just wondered if those of you who got in had similar scores on this section or much better.
I have talked to Finiancial aid office and they have limits on loans and it won't be enough. Out of state is 13000 a semester and I just can't justify spending that much money when I can go to a school instate for 3000 a semester
Thanks for the stats. I did go back and look at some stats from previous pages but some people posted different scores in different posts so I didn't know what was accurate.
Vintagepeony. We had very similar stats and background education but you had a wayyyy higher CT score. I was thinking of re-taking the HESI to improve my CT but I guess that is not the X factor since it didn't help in your case. Although, I looked at a report of my HESI today and I saw that they break the CT score down into subcategories...I made 950 scores in some and 750 scores in some. I thought they looked at the overall grade, but maybe they weigh the parts. Are you going to start posting on the UTHSC Spring 2013 page?
I got my rejection letter the other day. I think I got rejected because I took the HESI more than the alloted 2 times. They are really serious about this. I called earlier in January and they said that they could not use my most recent scores. The woman I spoke to even said that because I took it too many times I can never apply again (for the BSN). I took her seriously until I saw that I had a green circle for all complete (instead of still having my HESI scores on the to do list). I thought that she was wrong and that they had accepted them. Well, now I know that she was serious. Don't shoot yourself in the foot like I did!
