UTHEALTH Summer 2020

Updated:   Published

Hello all,

I am wanting to apply to UTHEALTH for Summer 2020 and fall 2019. I will be coming from out of state. This semester I am taking Stats and texas government and taking the HESI. In the Spring, I will take Mirco lab. I will have about a 3.2-3.3 overall GPA by the time I apply. Has anyone gotten accepted with this GPA before?

When I went to my orientation last year they did accept the accelerated series. And you don't need to have all your immunizations in order by the first day of classes. There were some that were missing the last dose of the hep B for our first day. They will work with you! And it won't impede your J1 clinical rotation! As long as you're taking care of business you should be good to go.

Oh thank you for the response!!! Do you recall if they accept Heplisav-B or twinrix? Thank you again!!

I really don't remember. I just checked my cohort's group and apparently they accepted Heplisav-B (the 2 dose series). But again, take my word with a grain of salt since stuff could've changed.

Around what time in May does summer semester start?

Last year we started May 20. This year we'll start May 18 I believe. For a list of all the "first day of class" and other important dates they're on their website here:

@dorkyhades hi I also applied for Summer 2020 entry and even though we won't hear back until March or so, do you mind telling us your stats from when you applied? I'm super nervous.

Hi there, I have been looking at past threads for UTHEALTH and this person’s stats are completely irrelevant or unlikely to help because they pick whoever they want. I read that someone with 4.0 gpa and high hesi people will get denied but another person with the exact stats will get accepted. Also low gpa and hesi scores get accepted but a high gpa and hesi score will get denied. I think they got off a lottery system therefore his stats are irrelevant. Look back at past/old threads to see what I’m talking about. Honestly just hope for the best or pray if u believe in prayer ?

dmikedan is right. The school as far as I can tell uses a lottery system to pick their students. My overall gpa was 3.6 20200124_160849.thumb.jpg.61c5530b279736e5a217955350216dd0.jpgmy nursing prereq 3.6 and science gpa was 3.3. I wouldn't stress about your stats because anyone had a chance of getting in. Here's a screenshot of the FB group for the fall 2019 cohort and all of the stats of those who decided to reply from that cohort and previous cohorts but, again, don't go off based on this screenshot alone since maybe there were others who got in with lower stats but didn't want to post theirs online for everyone to see.

Hi guys!! I applied for summer 2020. My overall gpa is 3.27 and I have nutrition, statistic, and sociology in progress. My hesi score overall is 93.6 ( math 90, anp 96, reading 92, vocab 98, grammar 92). I was wondering if anyone with similar stat got accepted for BSN? I am freaking out. ?

Following.......

Good luck to everyone!

Your HESI score is really good! Just stay positive, you never know what will happen ? Good luck.

Guys I applied for the Summer semester and I have a 3.7 GPA overall and 94% on my HESI. What other schools are you guys applying to? & Do they start sending out decisions until March?
