UTHEALTH Summer 2020

Updated:   Published

Hello all,

I am wanting to apply to UTHEALTH for Summer 2020 and fall 2019. I will be coming from out of state. This semester I am taking Stats and texas government and taking the HESI. In the Spring, I will take Mirco lab. I will have about a 3.2-3.3 overall GPA by the time I apply. Has anyone gotten accepted with this GPA before?

How is school so far?

This semester so far is a little crazy but I'm still getting used to it since it's the first week of school. But i am proud I have completed all of my reading chapters except for 2 chapters but we are on track!

School so far since my first semester is a little overwhelming but it's less when you start the next semester and so on because at first you don't really know how nursing school is and how you're supposed to study or be organized with everything you have to do. It's even more crazy when you start in the summer since you have to figure this out in less time since it's a shorter semester. So far I really like it and I love this program but there's days where I am lost and don't know if I can make it through the semester/program.

Does anyone's philosophy class have a title other than intro to philosophy? I'm trying to double check if my class, philosophy and the arts, is an equivalent to the prereq's title but couldn't get through on the phone as I'm sure they're very busy!

Also, I got that email too even though mine should be sent.

Hi y’all ? Just found this thread for this program! Does anyone happen to know how many people usually apply for the summer program?

I went to the info session and they said about 800 so yes around there!

How long does it take for the official transcript to do list to check off...I sent mine 2 days ago electronically

Mine took a day but it still says I have that on my to do list only because I have a class currently in progress

Congrats! Do you have any advice to give?

Also, just to be sure the official transcripts and HESI scores are all what they need correct?

Yup that's pretty much all they need along with your application! And any advice? Right now I suggest you check if your immunizations are in order. The Hep B series takes the most time to complete so if you don't have it at least get this one started since you can wait a bit for the rest. Enjoy your time right now! We really don't have time to chill between semesters since we get a week and a half between them except for the Winter break which was about 3 weeks. Also. For anyone who may read this and not just you, a denial does not mean you're not good enough for this program. I was denied twice (a denial and a waitlist which was then a denial). I know it does not feel really good to go through that buttt you can try again for the next application cycle if you can wait/keep trying or accept any other acceptance from another program. It doesn't matter where you go as long as it gets you where you want to go.

Hey guys! I'm from the cohort that got accepted Summer 2019 and I'm currently on my S1 semester and I've been lurking on this thread for a bit. So. As for transcripts, as long as they have them on record you should be fine! I am 3 semesters in and on my to-do list it still says I need to submit my transcripts LOL. Good luck with this application cycle! You got this! If you guys have any questions you can ask me especially since you guys are starting in the Summer as I did! ?

Hi! our deadline is 3 days away and I still have one item left on my to do list due to the fact that I am taking a Winter mini. I took my final for my Winter mini today but I'm not sure If my instructor will be able to get final grades in by the time the nursing application is due for me to send in another transcript. I e-mailed admissions because I understand that from Ms. JoAnn Mendoza's email that if we still have to do list items, then our application will not be considered.

I saw that you still had to do list items on your application and got accepted so I hope it's the same case here!

Hi. So as long as I know you can have a pending class(es) if you're waiting for a final. Even if the transcript they have on file for you does not have a final grade they will still consider your app. When they send acceptances they will ask you for a final transcript. So you should be good!

Hi, do you know by chance if UT accepts the accelerated vaccine, I think it’s called twinrix? I am applying to another school that requires the hep B vaccine series be complete by the time I submit the application. Also, is it a big issue for UT if the entire series of hep B vaccine is not complete by the first day of classes?

When I went to my orientation last year they did accept the accelerated series. And you don't need to have all your immunizations in order by the first day of classes. There were some that were missing the last dose of the hep B for our first day. They will work with you! And it won't impede your J1 clinical rotation! As long as you're taking care of business you should be good to go.
