UTA Spring 2013

Hello everyone! Just wanted to start this thread for anyone planning on attending UTA's nursing program in the Spring of 2013.....

I am working on the last of my pre-reqs right now at TCC, but I plan on attending UTA this fall to take Intro to Nursing, Patho, and Pharm... Anyone in the same boat???

Has anyone on the waiting list heard anything yet? The wait is really getting to me! Just thought I would check in with everyone, though, to see if anyone had gotten a call yet.

I have not, but I'm really not getting my hopes up....Retaking the HESI this weekend to apply to Baylor since they want the Science section. Something has to give! Good luck to everyone on the waitlist - hoping for good news for all:)

Hello everyone!! I always read these threads and hardly respond to them, but I do have an account.

When the letters came around on Oct. 15th, I was shocked to have received a rejection letter. I had been previously accepted for the Fall semester, but had to delay one semester due to some issues. My GPA and what not didn't fall THAT much. So something was fishy to me. I made an appointment with Dean Ashwill to look over my application and see why. I found out that they only had me listed for TWO considerations as opposed to the THREE that I actually have (3/4 sciences, 30 or more hours at UTA, and honors college). She was telling me that that changes a lot and I was put on the waitlist.

It's so frustrating knowing that my stats were good enough to get accepted the first time around with 700+ applicants and then get denied, and then waitlisted the second time around with 400+ applicants.

I'm hoping that first time around, I should have been put accepted so that I'll be high on the waitlist, but I have yet to see. Anyways, I have been talking to my advisor about this and she told me they had a staff meeting yesterday. Waitlist calls are TENTATIVELY set to begin next week. Hopefully that happens so this agonizing wait can end!!

But moral of the story: Talk to the dean about any questions you have about your application and what not. The advisors won't know because the admissions board doesn't tell them anything.

@lutriciale: Thanks for your insight! It's great that you were able to talk to Dean Ashwill and get it straightened out. Was it difficult to get an appointment with her? Also, did you apply to the Online or Traditional program? Thanks for the additional info!

I applied for the traditional program. But it's rather easy to make an appointment with her, you just need to email her and she's more than willing to help you out :)

Okay, I have wonderful news. My advisor just called me and told me she got permission to call me and tell me that I am accepted. I'm not sure if I'm the first one and if they are continuing to tell people today. But usually, Dean Ashwill calls those off the waitlist!

I emailed my counselor to see if phone calls were happening today and she said yes. That was at 11 this morning. Has anyone else gotten a call today?
