UTA Spring 2012

Published

Alas! Here I go again!;) This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!:D

I applied to Palestine as my first choice and Tyler, main campus, as my second choice, and was accepted in that first choice Palestine. Sounds like your odds are good at getting into the Good Shepherd partnership. How long before you know about that? I'm still holding out a "trickle" of hope for UTA.

Have any of you applied to any adn programs?

I couldn't because one of my sciences was still too old by the deadline. All is up to date now, but my Micro didn't finish until 10/14, so I just missed TCC by 2 weeks :/.

Oh, Libra... your *facepalm* comment CRACKED me up!!! Thanks for the laugh :) Seriously, this is getting humorous. I don't think anyone has been told the same thing yet. We'll see if the mail brings anything tomorrow... or the next day... or the next month.

I so hear you on this. And my *facepalm* was my literal response when I read that comment about the letters having been mailed.

I'm waiting on the alternate list at TCC and was curious if any of the UTA applicants maybe applied to TCC as a backup. I am scheduled to start at another adn program in january but tcc is my first choice.

It is crazy the inconsistency the UTA office is telling people. I spoke with them yesterday as well again and the secretary told me they were now looking for the end of next week since there was an even larger amount of applicants than ever before. SO the last 3 weeks I have heard the same thing: they will go out by the end of the week. . . . . frustrating.

I'll be curious what the department says today about letters if anyone calls.

So frustrating. They supposedly only look stats, plus add a point for a couple of things (prior degree, hours at UTA). Nothing else supposedly goes into it. Why does it take 6 months to press a button on a spreadsheet to organize to where the people with the highest points are at the top??? Geez. So annoying!

I created a profile just so I could express my disgust with this whole process. I called again today. Got the same answer I got two days ago: letters have NOT gone out and they HOPE to get them out next week. Said that each advisor is reviewing each applicant file. That's not encouraging since I no longer have an advisor. I'm sure she got fired for failure to EVER return an email or a phone call.

Seriously, how long does it take to plug everyone's names, GPAs, science GPAs, and hours completed at UTA into a spreadsheet, sort, then take the top X number and review. This crap about them looking at every file is nonsense. Some applicants are simply not going to get in based on their GPA. Period. Why look at their files? Plus seriously, they've had the applications for over 5 months. I could have memorized them by now.

If this is the best they can do, I'm not interested. Excuse me while I go register for another school.

Did you apply for the traditional or accelerated program at UTA? Good Shepherd IS partnered with UTA. That's what I'm getting at. It's newly partnered so not many people are aware of it. I applied for UTA's Accelerated BSN program. I thought that since you applied in Tyler, that maybe you were willing to go another 45 minutes to Longview's Good Shepherd Medical Center to participate in UTA's ONLINE BSN program. They were looking for applicants. They are accepting 20 applicants, instead of the 10 that the other hospitals are accepting and it's a smaller community, so the chances are better.

NEVERMIND, I JUST RE-READ THROUGH YOUR POSTS. YOU APPLIED FOR THE TRADITIONAL PROGRA. I'LL JUST KEEP THIS INFO UP FOR ANYONE WHO HAPPENS TO REAPPLY AND IS WILLING TO COME TO LONGVIEW. FOR THE NEXT THREE ENTRIES THEY WILL BE ACCEPTING 20 PEOPLE.

Maybe someone should give them a little seminar in how to use Excel.

i feel sick over this :uhoh3:

It would be really helpful if the advisors would just send a mass email to all the applicants and give a heads up for the hold-up. It seems that would be the logical and efficient approach to getting the information out there. It would also be considerate of the School of Nursing to ease all the of applicants anxiety (especially those that are running out to the mailbox everyday hoping and praying there's a letter in there).

Frustrating, indeed.
