This thread is for anyone taking Holistic health assessment on-line at UTA starting Jan 14th 2013. Hopefully we can get a good thread going in order to provide support for each other as we go. The more students who participate, the better it will be for everyone.
week 1 is behind us, less than 4 weeks left. its not too early to have a countdown, right? haha
received 100% for both assignments for week 1. but i'm super upset i was dinged 50pt for my discussion. i was told that we arent allowed to have only 3 sentences, despite the fact that i had 50 words. i see the point but thats a technicality.
kudos to you all! lets keep fighting.
Hi, quick finger question.
How are you all documenting capillary refill? The Common Error's sheet states to write it for x10 fingers. So would you write per hand digits 1-5 have capillary refill of less than 1 second or would you write capillary refill is less than 1 second for all ten fingers and ten toes? Or is there another way to document this that I have overlooked?
thank you
M

hi china2406,
i wrote something like, "pink color returns to nail beds in
ridiculous that we have to mention that there are 10 of each, IMO.
Omg, thank you scarletfire for the tips, my coach said that I was one of the few that included that!!!Hi Luna,I completely agree with your post. Last night I finished week 1 and week 2 assignments, although I still have some polishing up to do, and I was wondering to myself why everyone says this class is so crazy. And, I concluded that it must be because of the grading in conjunction with the fact that there is no guidance on how exactly they want the narrative written. I have heard they take off lots of points for silly things and so, knowing that, it is very stressful for everyone. So, now I get it. Yes, both sample assignments are worthless, in my opinion. And,the common error guide is a joke. For the expectation of subjective data, it says to "see lab manual." That's a big help. I think we all could learn health assessment from this class just fine without the instructions being so vague about the assignments and then they punish us with points off for not doing it correctly when we were never told how to do it in the first place! Anyway, here are some tips I've learned: don't forget to use mmHg after your BP reading and BPM after your pulse reading. And to include the scale for pain and pulses (e.g. 10 point scale for pain and 3+/4+ for pulse). My AC told us we don't have to include the address and phone # of our client in the biography section. Instead of the name, we should use initials. Thanks for everyone coming to this forum. we have to rely on each other for support since we obviously can't rely on the instructors. more later.

great job middlesister,
I was very pleased to get a 90 and 100. What a relief. Hope I can keep it up. Helps to know what they are looking for.
