UTA FNP Spring 2020

Nursing Students NP Students

Published

I applied for the online FNP program at University of Texas Arlington starting Spring 2020 (Jan). I'm wondering if anyone else applied! Also, when do we find out if we got in?

For those who have already started the FNP program. When does clinical usually happen? Towards the end? Also, how hard was it trying to find a preceptor? I want to start looking into that as soon as possible.

Specializes in Emergency Department.

I got in as well! I ultimately decided to apply to some in-person programs in my area.

Awesome!! please let me know how everything is going

How are the online exams like? for those who are already in the program?

Specializes in Advance Certified Hyperbaric RN (ACHRN),BSN,DMT.

So far my first two classes (Theories and Research) were open-book quizzes and exams. You had one hour to complete and a few that were unlimited time. I start Advanced Patho which will probably not be open-book and you have to use a webcam to take the exams. I won't know until May 18.

Hey guys for the nursing research and nursing theories class what books should I purchase?

I got both the books for theory and research. Currently in N5366 Research. You definitely need the research book. You can do without the theory book, but best to have. Research class is a lot of assignments and quizzes.

Currently working on my second paper where I have to find qualitative and/quantitative research for the theory I choose any suggestions on where to find articles. I chose jean Watson’s theory of human caring

Specializes in Critical Care Registered Nurse.

I am currently a UTA RN-BSN student and am set to begin the UTA FNP program in Spring 2021. I am trying to choose between this and another program. (I will already have take the theories & research courses by the time I begin the MSN)

What has been your experience in the program so far?

Are there instructional powerpoints or is it mostly them throwing articles at you and saying, "hey, read these and take the test"?

Is it mostly self taught?

Are the teachers responsive or helpful if you have questions?

Does the program mostly consist of writing papers or mostly exams?

Do they still require the use of webcams for exams?

Do you feel prepared for clinical?
