UTA Fall 2018

Published

It seems that no one has started a thread for the Fall 2018 program applicants, so I figured I would rally us all together to support one another and share our experiences, stats, and where we are in the application process!

How can we find out what the partner hospital are in Houston??

Has everyone on the waitlist had their fingerprints done? I was told to make an appt as soon as possible but would prefer not to spend the money until I know I am accepted. I also was not given any information on how to make an appt and cannot find anything on the website. Also, do the fingerprints need to be done in order to be accepted? Any insight appreciated--thanks!

I have my appointment next week. They should have sent you an email about it with a link to set an appointment

I did mine a few weeks ago. Received my blue card from the BON in the mail less than a week later. I decided to go ahead and get it done because it will be required for any nursing program in the state of Texas. So, regardless of UTA calling me off of the waiting list, I'll still need/use it at my "plan B" school. Same with titers and updating my TB and vaccination records.

Has anyone in the DFW area been called off of the waiting list? I wonder when they start making phone calls...

I've heard that a few have been called off, but more will be called off when this semester is over. There are some people taking patho/pharma now that will not pass them and then will get dropped. So don't lose hope!

The waiting is killing me. Do you know how many got called off the waitlist? Any idea how many on the waitlist? I know they don't give us that info but was hoping someone may know í ½í¸–

Also when's the cut off so we know that we're not getting called anymore.

They can call us off the waitlist all the way up to July 15th, the day of orientation. I'm afraid the nail-biting continues.

Anyone know anything about being an alternate?

An alternate is expected to be completely ready to go all the way up to the semester census date. That will include vaccines, BCLS, and Patho Pharm and Intro all done. Basically you do everything a regular accepted student would do so you can slide right into a spot should one become available. If you get the chance to be an alternate it would totally be worth it. Alternates also get "special consideration" in the next pool of applicants if they are not selected.

I was chosen to be an alternate about a week ago. It was crazy trying to get everything done by yesterday's deadline, but I did it! I hope that even if I don't get called before the first day of class, I'll at least be accepted in the spring with an alternate consideration.

Is anyone else in here an alternate?
