UTA Fall 2016

Published

Hello all! I'm starting a thread for Fall 2016 BSN on-campus and online programs. Please feel free to share where you are in your application process and/or any questions you might have.

NO you would have to have all your science before you start the progam

No you would have to finish all your science courses before you start there are some classes that are allow and I believe they are on the flyer without the ** sign on them

I have all my science done I am talking about the pre-nursing courses that you have to take through them.

Have any fellow wait listed people got a call or anything yet?

I have not received a call yet but I do know of several on campus and online waitlisted students who already have been called and accepted a position in the program. My advisor did verify for me also on Monday that wait list calls have been started.

I have this book

Has anyone received information from BON about their bakgound check? If you did, how long did it take to get information from BON?

I received my blue card from the BON last week.

Thanks. I did too. I was wondering how long it normally takes BON to get info to me. It did not even take a week for me to get my blue card. Just waiting to hopefully get called off the waitlist now.

WanttobeRNKLT I am wait listed as well but want to make sure I have taken all the correct steps so far incase I am called off the wait list. I have done my fingerprints already, is there anything else I need to do right now? Not sure what the blue card is you are referring to. If you could help, that would be great!

once your background check is compiled from your fingerprints, they will send background check to Texas Board of Nursing. The board looks at the Background check and either will say it is clear, and they will send you a blue postcard stating your check was clear, or they will send you a letter, I believe, stating what on the background check does not pass qualifications or what they need more information from you and list what info they need from you to investigate.

If you get a blue postcard, make sure you save it in a safe place as UTA needs to verify that you have a blue card or if BON says they need to investigate something, you usually need to fill out a Declaratory Order and give them information about the incident and all legal or court records but I think the Board lists all information they need sent to them to investigate.

You will not be able to start the Nursing program until you either have a blue card or have been cleared by the BON after they review information about whatever they are questioning on your report.

It took less than a week for me to get the blue postcard after I did my fingerprints but I think it can take up to 10 days for you to get information back from the BON.

I hope this makes sense. If not, I will certainly try to help with any other questions you have.

I was excited to get the card that I was clear as this means this cannot hold me back form starting in the Fall if called. You have until August 1 to get the blue card or approval from the BON that you can enter the program (if your check was not clear) I have been told.

Thank you so much! that helped greatly! i did my fingerprints a couple of weeks ago but recently moved from San Antonio to the Dallas area. now I am

worried my blue card got lost in the mail.. any idea who I should contact? once I do receive the blue card I just need to keep it in a safe place until UTA requests it? thank you again!

UTA gets a report at the beginning of each month listing all students in the system needing a background check and their status. Ceil Flores, assitant Dean handles the background check information. Perhaps send her an email explaining your move and how you can verify if a blue card was sent. If one was sent, I believe you can request another copy from the BON but Ms. Flores's office could at least confirm that the BON has completed your check and they may be able to help who to contact at BON to get another copy if one has already been sent to you.

Yes, I have been told that UTA needs to verify you have a blue card and I believe you will also need it to be able to take the NCLEX exam to get your Registered Nurse license at the end of the program.

Their is a lot of information on the background check on the BON website. I have put the link below.
