UTA FALL 2012

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hey all, I thought I would set up a place to discuss the next application period for UTA's Fall 2012 nursing program. There was so much info in the Spring 2012 forum, thought it might be helpful to start a new thread...

Post away!

UTA does not require an official copy of the HESI scores?

No. In fact, I submitted my app in person yesterday and I printed out my score straight from the HESI website.

Ok, thank god. I just faxed my two applications today with my printed HESI scores. I wish you good luck.

I am applying with a 4.0 science and a 3.69 overall GPA. No special considerations or partnerships. I feel like it is unlikely that I will get in to the AP-BSN but have a chance at the Traditional BSN. Any opinions?

I am hoping the pool is less than competitive and the first week of May comes quickly.

Does anyone know how they will rank us? Since you don't have to finish all the prereqs before the evaluation process (even science classes), I really wonder about the ranking method.

Hi everyone,

They consider the partnered applicants before the non partnered. Meaning if a partnered applicant has a 3.0 and a non partnered as a 4.0, the partnered 3.0 applicant will be accepted first regardless of the gpa. Each partnered applicant competes with other applicants from the same hospital. HESI is a pass/fail issue.

As for myself,

I have applied for the fall 2012 AP BSN program

I have a 3.4 gpa and I passed the HESI

I am also partnered with THR Fort Worth

This spring I will be taking Patho, Pharm, Intro.

I realized that a 3.4 is not as competitive but I'm hoping that I will do well this spring to help boost my gpa. It was my first semester that really hurt me gpa wise. since my first semester I have made all A's with the exception of two B's.

Good luck to everyone.

Are you talking only about the AP BSN program? How about the traditional one? Thanks.

I'm talking about the AP BSN program, not the traditional. Sorry for the confusion.

Patho, pharm and nursing fundamentals are not calculated into your GPA. Only the gpa you have before the application deadline will be considered in ranking. They will rank base on you prerequisite GPA and your science GPA. The HESI is pass/fail. From what I gather from the traditional program. People get in with an average 3.7 prereq gpa and a 4.0 science.

My science gpa is 4.0 and total gpa is 3.69. I'm missing 5 classes (patho, intro to nursing, hist 2, govt 2, tech writing). Do you think I'm competitive enough? Thanks.

I have applied for the fall of 2012 AP BSN also! I am partnered at THR Fort Worth. Mrs. Fortune told me that 24 total applied for this application period...I heard that they take 30 students for THR so maybe all of the 24 that applied will get in and there will still be room for 6 unpartnered students...

Applied for AP BSN Fall 2012. Not partnered. GPA 3.8. Sciences 3.25. I have a Bachelor degree. I've taken all my prereqs at UTA, and will have over 30 hours accumulated after spring 2012. I hear being partnered is critical. I start Pharm and Path this month. I read all the posts from the UTA Spring 2012 board...a lot of negative things said about UTA - mostly (and understandably) out of frustration. My take is that UTA had NO idea, when they began offering the program, that they would receive the responses they have. In all honesty, I think they are so overwhelmed that they can't keep up with the influx of applicants. This has caused them to make some poor decisions, and unfortunately those decisions have affected the students adversly. I applied in June of 2011, and never got any type of letter or email. I didn't call or email them. Didn't know the process (at that time), and I just figured I had been denied. Everything has a season, and timing is key. Keep the faith. Good things will come to those who wait. We will perservere. If not at UTA, then somewhere. Hopefully, we all get accepted this fall, but if not, try, try again. Good luck everyone :)

MEGREEN, are you sure that only 24 of us applied and that there are 30 spots for us?
