UTA Fall 2010

Published

I've applied to UTA's traditional track program and was wondering if anyone knew of when they send out acceptance letters?

Thanks!

no idea but I applied too. Do you mind me asking how you did on the HESI

Hey!

Well, I talked to an advisor this week, and she said letters should go out at the end of April. My HESI scored was a 90. What was yours?

At the "Successful Sophomores" event early last month, they said it would be the end of April, but hinted that it may be as soon as mid-month. They also said not to worry about the HESI score, as long as it was over 70. To put it another way, your GPA, science GPA, etc., is a number. The HESI portion of your application turns into a yes/no or a checkmark if you made higher than a 70. I was a bit disappointed to hear this, as the average of my four HESI section scores was a 98.

What is a good score for UTA?

I have a 3.22 overall pre-req and lower course gpa and 2.63 for science gpa. My HESI is 91.5. I also have a bachelor's degree.

Would I have a chance?

I don't know, kickymarcia. They seem to put a big emphasis on science, but you also get a "bump" for a bachelor's degree, although I don't know how much as it's part of their proprietary scoring. You don't know unless you send one in...

Good luck!

I just read your post and was wondering what advisor at uta told you that? I was told it was a 75%. All of my grades are good, but was dissapointed to here i needed a 75% on hesi to be considered to the program.I was also advised to retake the hesi asap. Any suggestions.

They might've bumped it up to 75%, I don't know. Evidently, it's an "all or nothing," type situation. From what I understand, you don't get any more points for a 98 on the HESI than you do a 78, they just want you to make the minimum score they've established - so it's a yes/no thing.

You can retake the HESI at prometrics. If you do, only take the sections that UTA requires. If you take the other sections, UTA will look at them - even though they don't require it.

Did the advisor say what a good gpa score is for all courses and science courses?

I'm debating applying to UTA and skipping the ADN and just pursing the BSN.

However, the tuition cost is weighing on my mind. I would prefer not get more student loans.

I've never heard them give a definitive answer about GPAs, except for what's on the literature they give. More often, they talk about how it's a mix of things that they consider (GPA, hours at UTA, any degrees you might already hold, etc.).

In the past, I've had to retake some of the pre-requisite courses to improve my grade. Does the admission committee take the highest grade of the two for one course? Or do they average it together?

How many Nursing pre-requisite courses are we allowed to retake without being counted against?
