Hello all,
I have tried to find a forum for students applying to UTA for the AO program to start in Fall 2021 but I didn't find any so I am starting my own topic!
I know the deadline was just the 15th but I am so anxious and nervous to find out if I am in! My Patho is done (retaking Pharm since UTA won't accept mine from Hill College) so I have that consideration listed on my MyMav and I am employed as a Patient Care Assistant at a partnered hospital. Both of my GPA's are 3.0. (Which is a lot better than what it used to be. I didn't take college seriously when I was younger!) Obviously passed TEAS, won't go into the scores since it is a pass/fail requirement. I am currently about to start my second semester of LVN school and I graduate that program in August at Hill College. I am hoping to immediately start the BSN program after that so I don't become complacent and put it off. How about you guys? I felt like this would be more constructive than sitting around biting my fingernails until March waiting for that email! LOL.
This is a judgement free zone! I am excited to hear from you all ?

Hey Heather! I too applied for the Fall 2021 cohort. I'm in patho now and will be doing pharm this Summer.
Point-wise I feel confident with sitting around 8.5: I have ~7.5 GPA points and 2 considerations with sciences taken at UTA and previous bachelors degree, and I'm partnered with a hospital as a paramedic with several years of experience.
Having said that I'm still going to apply to other schools as you just never know.

Hi Heather- I am currently in the RN-BSN program at UTA. I just wanted to add that you are doing the right thing by not waiting around and enrolling in the BSN program right away. It is so easy to put off enrolling in BSN or MSN studies once we become RNs and begin to make way better money. I got my ADN with full intentions of going back to school the next semester....25 years later, here I am just now about to finish the UTA RN-BSN program. I am finishing up with BSN and hoping to start the MSN/FNP program this fall. Better late than never, but please don't wait! Good luck!

Yes! That was my thought process. The waiting game is killing me though! Best of luck to you!

Hey Heather,
I've applied to the AO program for Fall 2021 as well and the waiting game is killing me too. This is my second time applying, but I feel a lot more confident this time around. I'm sitting at an 8.42 point wise and also have a p2 consideration for having already completed pharm/patho. I'm in the DFW area right now, but applied to get into the Central Texas site so I can move closer to my family. What location did you apply to? Does anyone know if there are more spots available at certain locations or if any location is more competitive to get in to? Good luck - we should be finding out soon!

hey ladies! I applied, and am nervous to hear back this week!
First time applying to UTA AO. My GPA is on the lower end(not taking school seriously for 8 years of my life), 6.9 + .5 patho/pharm conditional points. I am partnered as well. I am in Houston, so I am not sure how competitive UTA is here. I know DFW is highly competitive even for AO.
I only applied to UTA AO and for TWU Houston which is an in person program. I prefer AO since I work nights and can continue working my full time position at the hospital.
Crossing fingers for us all! you all have great scores!

Has anyone received an acceptance? I got waitlisted. I have a 8.3 with the patho/pharm priority.
I was waitlisted.

Ugh I’m sorry to hear that. UTA is very competitive though, it’s my second time getting waitlisted
I wasn't expecting to get waitlisted but I guess you just never know! I'm partnered and have experience with direct patient care in a critical care unit. I wish experience counted for something ? At least I graduate LVN in August. That'll count for something I guess. ? Trying to cheer myself up...
I got accepted. I’m partnered so I am assuming my hospital system wasn’t as competitive as previous semesters. Not to say I didn’t have a good score. I also had patho/pharm .5 contingent upon passing pharm this semester
I got accepted! For those that were waitlisted - there's still a really good chance you will get called off the waitlist. I read of a lot of people getting called off last round. I was waitlisted the first time I applied too and was pretty bummed out about it. But I went back and redid some of my science courses at UTA to raise my GPA AND to get the extra consideration added to my score. I also had patho AND pharm completed by the time I applied this time. I really think that helped so if you are set on being in this specific AO program I would highly suggest boosting your score in any way possible. Good luck - keep us updated!
