Uta ap bsn - fall 2014

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

I just wanted to start a new thread for all of the applicants for Fall 2014.

I applied to the online and on-campus, but would really prefer online.

I'm not partnered though, so I have that against me.

My stats:

3.6 overall

4.0 science

2 considerations: 30 hrs @ UTA & previous bachelors

This will be a career change for me.

Good luck to everyone who applied!

I got my confirmation! Yay! Check your email!

Me too! Yay is right!

I got my confirmation of acceptance response on Friday and am excited to start! I'm not partnered with any place yet so we'll see where I get placed. Excited to meet everyone!

I got mine too! :)

I'm not partnered either. My first three choices were

1. Medical City Dallas

2. BUMC

3. Parkland.

What about you guys/girls?

Mine was close to your top three, I did 1)Parkland, 2) Medical City, 3) BUMC.

My choices were 1. Cooks 2. JPS 3. Baylor all saints 4. BUMC

Seriously feeling so impatient! September is so far away.... Anyone already starting to get their stuff together? Like uniforms, stethoscope, etc? I also need to hit up the bookstore for a student ID. Havent had to get one yet since Ive been all online.

I've been looking and thinking about getting stuff, but I don't think I'm going to start purchasing until after the online orientation. I'm ready for them to get that going though!

Congratulations to all of you who have received your acceptance into the program! I am sure you are very excited and nervous and trying to get things on track and start early. I started in January and am finishing up my last week of my J1 semester. Just wanted to give you some advice going forward and some tips to kind of help you out. There is a Facebook page: [COLOR=#141823]UTA Nursing School Info Group, that you should join. Many students from all semester share information in the group. Very helpful for quick questions.

[COLOR=#141823]Ms. Webb will be your best friend she is a genius and your go to person when you have questions but she is also a very busy woman so have patience. The best thing you can do right now is make the adjustments needed to give 100% to the program. When they tell you it is best not to work it is not because they want you all to be poor nursing students, they really want you to be successful in the program. You have to ultimately decide what is best for you which is usually not to work. The main thing you need to do to be successful in the program is organize, plan and study. It is an exciting journey and congrats to you all.

For those who are on the waiting list keep hope alive , I was on the waiting list and got accepted a month later, many people do. To those who were not accepted don't give up! If this is your passion try again and, if you are a believer, then PRAY! And trust that Gods plan is better than our own. If you all have questions or anything just let me know. UTA is an awesome school and has a great support system I promise they will give you all everything you need, even mobile app recommendations. But while you are waiting to start the program, it wouldn't hurt to start becoming familiar with the nursing process and nclex questions. Good luck to you all!

@ Baespree2

Thank you for the greetings and words of wisdom. We welcome all of that!

How was your first semester?

Ooh, i just thought of more questions!

Will the software package(s) work on my Android phone, or do I have to have iphone or Windows Phone?

Can the all white shoes have a black sole?

You're welcome! First semester was tough but after coming back from orientation I decided to quit my job. I can't imagine working in this program. Promotions in my opinion was easy, Foundations can be tricky, but Assessment is the hardest if you are more of an abstract thinker like me. Assessment is the class that most of my group struggles with. There are a lot of assignments but they really help you learn the information.

I have all apple products so I am not 100% sure about the android phone. As far as the shoes it depends on your clinical instructor. My instructor wasn't as concerned with the shoes I think one kid got away with black shoes. I wouldn't recommend trying that, but they told us at orientation that if there have a little grey in them that its ok, so I'm guessing a black sole will be fine. If you think of any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

Hey guys for everyone that has been accepted, has anyone started their BON CBC?
