  1. Does anyone know what the shift differential is for Baylor? I got an offer from Baylor and from JPS so I am a bit torn.... Just trying to get all the pieces in place! And I know I should call, but I don't want to look bad asking about money.
  2. I have had one interview so far at Baylor. Have not heard back yet tho. The waiting is torture! Good luck on your interview today! Hope it goes well. :)
  3. I applied for a Baylor residency and had an interview, but no offers so far
  4. I hope so too! I am trying not to get discouraged, but its not easy. Have you gotten any interviews yet?
  5. Hey all, I am starting a thread for the GN residency at JPS in fort worth. I have searched and searched for some kind of information! I have so much anxiety about finding this first position. Most of the people in my group have found jobs already so I am trying to remain positive! Is anyone else applying for the nurse residency at JPS? Any updates or word on interviews, number of positions or anything? Just hoping for something to help me pass the time while the waiting game continues!
  6. I haven't actually completed the program yet but here is what I have noticed so far for me.... I think it depends on if you have children or not... I know for me personally it sucks. I worked about 32 hours a week plus I have three kids and it about broke me. I am getting ready to start my second semester and have already planned to cut my hours back at work down to 24 hours a week. I did manage two Bs and an A the first semester, but it was a struggle and I cried to my husband A LOT! I am an A student and it was very hard to me to accept Bs as a final grade. There were several students last semester who did not work and managed all As and then there were others that did not have children but worked full time and made Cs ad Bs. Its doable, but it depends on how focused you can be and what else you have going on! I don't know if that helps you or not but just thought I would give you some insight!
  7. So what do you guys think of this book situation? I am trying to decide about having a print book vs only using ebooks... it makes me a little nervous not to have a book in front of me but then again... it is so much cheaper to just do ebooks!
  8. So how is everyone hanging in there?? Anyone having any issues? Just wanted to check in! I am almost done with the orientation.. I never got the fast pass email so I am hoping all is well there,... Has anyone had to do a DO or anything? And I think we should know about clinicals by the end of this month!
  9. I already posted once but I cant find it so if you are reading this for a second time, I apologize! I am currently working as an LVN and I am getting ready to begin my RN nursing school. I have a declaratory on file with the BON but in order to sit for RN, you basically have to sign another order and submit a statement saying there have been no changes. I sent this information to the board via mail. I called to check the status two days ago and they said they have not received it yet and require 10 business days to process. So I faxed it because my 10 days were up and they still have nothing from me. Now they say they cannot confirm receipt of the fax for another 10 business days. Anyway nothing I can do about it now, it is in the boards hands. But as you can guess this is really putting me in a bind with the school and I am now facing the possibility of losing my spot. I know there is nothing I can do to rush the board. They could care less. But how often can I call them to make sure they received either my original letter or the fax without putting negative marks in my file? I would at the very least like to confirm receipt of the information! And yes I have learned to send things via certified mail in the future when dealing with the BON. Does anyone have any information on this? Had to deal with this before?
  10. Sorry I tried to search for this topic but I didn't find anything! I had to file a new declaratory order with the BON for a bad check thing and I sent my letter and documentation with plenty of time to spare. However, I have spoken with the board of nursing and they still don't have my letter. I faxed an additional copy when I heard this so they could have a backup. Anyway my question is this: How often can I call the BON to check to make sure they received something without making them angry at me? I want to confirm receipt but of course they always say there is a ten day waiting period. My ten day waiting period for the original letter is clearly up but I was stupid and didn't send it certified so now I suppose my 10 days starts over from sending the fax? I dont know what to do.... I am incredibly anxious about this!
  11. Has anyone gotten any word on if the blackboard orientation is still set to be up by Monday? I was kinda hoping they would open it early... although I don't know what the rush is since we cant do anything else til August! I am impatient to get the ball rolling.
  12. My choices were 1. Cooks 2. JPS 3. Baylor all saints 4. BUMC Seriously feeling so impatient! September is so far away.... Anyone already starting to get their stuff together? Like uniforms, stethoscope, etc? I also need to hit up the bookstore for a student ID. Havent had to get one yet since Ive been all online.
  13. Well it does make me feel better that I'm not the only one! I'm half paranoid they didn't get my fax and I will lose my spot!
  14. That's exactly what I was thinking.. I keep checking and nothing.
