UTA AP-BSN Partner Hospitals
Clinical days vary by location and class - I had a variety - Sat/Sun, Sun/Mon and Fri/Sat. Your test day will always be the same day each week...ours was Wed but I think the odd year cohorts are on Thurs. We also did clinical at different locations for psych, pediatrics and had a choice for community. When you are accepted, you are sent a list of all the clinical locations available for your cohort. You will rank them based on your preference. I believe this is where the "partnered" preference also comes into play as people working at a particular location would clearly be given preference for that location. To give you an idea, in my cohort of 10 none were partnered. Also, your last semester will involve capstone - you will be required to work the same shift as your preceptor. These days were all over the map, some in our cohort even worked nights. I worked fulltime during the program and just saved up vacation days for those shifts.

UTA AP-BSN Partner Hospitals
You don't have to be partnered, I was not partnered and was accepted into the program. I just graduated in May. If you search the UTA AP BSN website you can find the "scoring" criteria for acceptance. They give extra "points" for a variety of things such as taking most of your prereqs at UTA, taking your sciences at UTA, having a prior degree in another profession, etc. The most important criteria in acceptance is your sciences GPA, overall GPA and HESI scores. If you rock those arenas, you can get accepted.

Congratulations! My head is spinning with anticipation. I am not very confident though...interview was OK but don't feel great about it. Also, I was not one of the lucky ones to get to interview for 2 spots. I think that may have been because I was unable to attend open house. I was unable to leave the house that day due to the flood. My car was parked on the street was flooded and totalled by the insurance company. I think I am due for some good luck! HA!!!!

I think the number of positions varies from unit to unit. From the comments in this thread, it sounds like some were allowed to sign up for more than one interview slot.

Texas Children's Nurse Residency Summer 2016
Is it kind of weird that I almost don't want to know? HA!!! As long as I haven't heard a "No" there is still hope...It was just so competitive so many applicants for so few spots. I don't have any other offers - I still have a couple of applications out but no feedback on those yet either.

Seton RN residency July 2016
Just checking in to see if anyone has interviewed or received an offer from Dell Children's? My applications (for several units) have all said "under review" for several weeks. I am hoping this is still a good sign but I get a little more discouraged everyday! I guess no news is good news?!?

Texas Children's Nurse Residency Summer 2016
Does anyone know the start date? I am also curious as to what the schedule will be like at first. Do they have some classroom training followed by joining a preceptor? Or do you jump right in on the unit? Good luck to everyone! Anyone who joined one of the previous groups out there? Would be interesting to hear your perspective having already gone through it.

Suivezmoi89, I'm in a similar situation. I drove 3 hours to get to Houston on Sunday night because I had another appointment on Monday. I couldn't get out of the house I am staying in yesterday but the water was receding last night when I went to bed. I was shocked this morning to see that the water has risen significantly last night and the neighborhood I am in is actually worse today than yesterday! It is awful! some of the neighbors already have water in their homes. Even if the event is still on, I can't get out of the neighborhood.

Anyone interview or get a position at Dell Children's? I applied for several positions and haven't gotten called for an interview. My applications all say "under review."

I was just wondering the same thing - if the open house is still happening tomorrow? I responded to the email invite for the open house but haven't heard back...

Hey pktenn! Which department at Dell called you for an interview? I sent an email to the recruiter last night - but haven't heard anything... Did you apply anywhere else in the Austin area (besides Seton)?

Online College Chemistry with Lab
University of Texas at Arlington offers an online chemistry class. It was awesome. In addition to the recorded lectures by the professor, you have homework and exams that are also submitted online. For the lab portion, you order a kit and do experiments in your own home. We had to take pictures of some of the steps of the experiments and results and would upload those to Blackboard. It is a full college credit and any university will accept it. I will be graduating with my BSN in May.

St. David's Austin Graduate Nurse Positions
So, it is only the NICU positions that list Acute Care experience is required. Even though the job title had "Graduate Nurse." I believe technically if you have less than 1 year experience you are still considered a "graduate nurse."
