UTA AP BSN Fall 2011

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Dear fellow students,

I will be starting the 15 month AP BSN program through UTA this Fall, and I would like to know what to expect the first semester of nursing school. I know it will be tough, that's a given! I think Pharmacology was a test run for the real deal. But still, I want to know from previous students especially Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 nursing students on how their schedule works. How each semester is laid out, and if you guys get any break in between each semester. And how are your clinicals? Is it two days, on weekends, or do you get to pick and choose which days? Basically a regular day of a nursing student? Thanks!

I'm considering this program, has anyone from San Antonio done the program or are currently in it? For clinicals do we have to go to Dallas or do they work with hospitals in San Antonio?

Another question, if I apply to uta for pre nursing, will I be able to take those nursing prerequisites that are required?

Take chem anywhere other than online at UTA. That class almost killed me!! Probably 70% of my class dropped out but I foolishly stuck it out. I made my first C and it brought my science GPA down to a 3.5, but I was never so happy to have had a C in my life, because it meant that I didn't have to do it again!

The prof is horrible. You get zero support. Test questions are one at a time with no option to go back and review your answer, nor do you ever get to see your graded test or the correct answer. Labs are 15 pages, due every two weeks.

Just my two cents, but I would rather get a root canal than go through that again!!

Thanks katybusymom!!!!

Yes you can take all courses through UTA if you want. General courses & the pre-nursing required. Just read through the requirements under academic partnership BSN.

I'm not sure about SA for clinicals, but I'm sure that's spelled out too on the website.

oh ok, thank you so much!

I know this is an old thread, but wondering if you ended up at UTA and in SA?
