Hey Y'all! I am applying for the Fall 2018 start at UT Arlington! I wanted to see who else was applying so we could help each other out/ know someone when the program starts! I would love to get to know y'all!

AWESOME! I have FINALLY decided to go into Nursing. I have been in the healthcare field all my life, starting as a CNA for over 12 years, & now I'm a Registered Respiratory Therapist. I have an Associates degree & Bachelors degree. I applied before the fall, sent in all of the paperwork, but didn't pay my fee. Chances are I'll have to take the TEAS. I'm also applying to TAMUCC, UT Health, & TX Woman's University in Houston. I will like to give you all some advice, if you're able to apply to these accelerated programs, go for it especially if you have a Bachelors degree already. It is becoming a bit harder to compete with those who have their BSN if you receive an ADN. I know that many do not have a choice in the matter, but if you can, please apply & complete the BSN. I wish you all the best!
dvah1987, I was looking into that school as well as TCU. The only thing that's stopping me from TCU is the tuition.
That's why I am on the fence about HBU. It's private and it's extremely high tuition. I don't want to worry about having to pay out of pocket since I already have a bachelors degree and loans.

You have a degree as well? That's my exact situation. I was told that since I have a previous degree that chances are I have to pay out of pocket if I don't receive any scholarships. HBU is very expensive, but I heard that if you make it out of their nursing program, you will not have any issues is receiving a position. I also heard their program is very rigorous & many are weeded out in the beginning. I thought about ADN, but as I mentioned, it's becoming very competitive & difficult for ADNs. They are even requiring for RTs to have their Bachelors degree. Are you here in Houston?

Yes. I have a bachelors in corporate communications. My employer offers tuition reimbursement and I plan to utilize that to pay my way through nursing school. I am also going to search for scholarships. Yes, I am in Houston. HBU is extremely rigorous, but it would be worth trying. I'm really hoping to get into UTA as it would most convenient for my family and I. I agree with you regarding ADN programs. Ive heard that a lot of hospitals won't hire you unless you have a BSN and those that are on staff are pushed towards it as well.
Thanks for the responses! I did call to confirm and was told to put General Chemistry.
For those of you who have taken pathophysiology, I will be taking it along w/ Developmental Psych for the first half, and Intro to Nursing for the second half. I currently work full time as a medical assistant and am wondering if the load will be too heavy and if I should think about moving to part-time. Any insight is appreciated!
Hey all! I applied for the online program as well, along with UT-Health science center Houston summer, and UTMB fall 2018. My stats are: HESI: 84% 0verall, GPA: 3.4, Science GPA:3.2. Considerations: I have taken at least 30 hours at UTA. I only have History II, Path, and Pharm left. I'm taking Path this semester and Pharm for summer. So if anyone else is let me know, we can help each other out. Good luck all and God bless!
