Am applying to UT tyler nursing program for spring 2015. Anyone else applying? Feel free to post comments.
2sons,
Yup, I saw that too and mentioned it earlier. I am wondering if they are only doing ABSN program at Tyler for 2015. I do not recall seeing this even just 6 weeks ago:
"The Accelerated BSN Track is designed for students who wish to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) in 16 months. The track is only available on the Tyler campus."
I know for a fact that last year students did attend and graduate from UT Longview:
So in my opinion, this is yet another very big change. And if it is true, then it is more challenging for all of us simply because there are less vacancies available. My application had choices for Tyler and Longview, but I am wondering if they did not get enough applicants for Longview and have decided to consolidate. This makes sense because look at the link that I provided for the 2013 Longview graduates... only 13 graduates listed. I am sure that they started with more than that though and not everyone completed the program.
Thanks for the dialogue on this, 2sons. And yes, let us all help to keep each other updated!
Regards,
LW
Hi zilamakus! I love your positive thinking!! I hope your are right about all of us getting accepted!! Unfortunately, I don't know anyone that's gone through the program. I bet it's fast and furious....that's fine with me, I'm not getting any younger! Any idea where we get fingerprinting done? Tyler or elsewhere?
I have already done my fingerprinting. The school that I applied (UTMB) sent my social security number to the Board of Nursing and the board in turn sent me a number to register and pay for the electronic finger print. If everything goes through, the board will send you a blue card which means you have a clear background. I received mine two days ago. The agency which does it for Texas schools is called Morpho Trust. However, if you think you will not come clear on the criminal check, you have to apply in advance to the Board of Nursing by filling a declaratory form. This is because the response to this form can take two to four months.

Hi LW! WOW...this IS confusing!! It seems like there is so much varying information out there! I was also told to wait for acceptance for immunizations. I guess we "hurry up and wait"! If I hear anything further, I'll post it. Good luck!!
