Am applying to UT tyler nursing program for spring 2015. Anyone else applying? Feel free to post comments.
Also- do y'all (in the accelerated program) still have a hold?? Sadly I have to take US History II, US Government, and Texas Politics this spring as well as our other three required courses and figured I'd at least be able to register for those, but no luck. I'm scared the seats are going to fillAHH!!!
You are going to have a full schedule ! Im sure there is going to be more the one section for those classes, but you should call the registration guys! They might help you, I bet you are going to register for those without problem. You probably need some assistance, that's it.

tlkeating,
Wow... tlkeating that is going to be hard. Maybe this is stating the obvious, but I would put my priorities on the three nursing prerequisites. At this point you are accepted despite not having the pre-requisites so even a 'C' in one of those core classes won't really matter all that much. Man, I do not envy you! For what it is worth, I took US History II and Texas Politics online at TJC and US Government in-class at TJC. If I were you, I would consider taking these at TJC because it is significantly cheaper. In my opinion, the online classes were actually quite challenging because they are time-consuming with all the reading necessary.
Seriously, consider taking these three classes over Winter-Mester, 2014 at TJC! That is what I would do... I just checked and all three of those classes are available for winter-mester at TJC. And.. these are transferrable to UT Tyler because I took them all at TJC.

Thanks for the input LW!! I am definitely putting my focus on our nursing courses. Mrs. Sumrall said as long as I get a C in those history/government classes I will be fine! I've had so many issues with my residency status (originally from Texas, went to undergrad at Alabama, took an online class in Mississippi where we are now, paid out of state tuition at both, but I've maintained my TX license...confusing I know) that I'm thinking I'm going to take them at UTTyler, they've finally got me listed as in-state thank goodness!! It was SUCH a process to get that straightened out. And thank you for taking the time to look the classes up, I greatly appreciate that :)
tlkeating,
Sure thing! I hear you about the instate residency. Would you mind giving me some background on that? I moved to TX in Feb. of this year so I am hoping that I am considered in-state by the time the school starts in May. Do you have any recommendations?
You probably already know this, but TJC is still much cheaper than UT Tyler. The schools are not that far apart. Your call, but I am guessing we are talking a few thousand dollars difference here!

LW- I worked with Kelsey French, she's in the Office of Enrollment Services, (her email is [email protected] phone number is 903-565-5824) and she was SUPER helpful! Because I attended high school in Texas and paid out-of-state tuition in both Alabama and Mississippi, I had to show statements proving that I paid those fees. That basically re-classified me as a Texas resident, even though my drivers license, car registration and everything was Texas they didn't care.
Did you get a Texas license? And if you did, did you get a voters registration card? That seems to help prove Texas residency. And I'm sure if by chance you have any bill statements in your name with a Texas address on them that would help. I definitely suggest contacting Kelsey, she will help you get everything straightened out. And you should definitely be able to get in-state by May if you can prove you've been a resident since February! Best of luck, it is a process, but well worth the hassle of getting everything!
I'm just curious- for everyone who already has one....what are y'all's degrees in? Mine is English with a minor in child and family studies.
Associates of science at Northeast Texas community college and 5 year of Med school ( foreign college). I don't really know if they count like degrees but that's my overall experience
chennaultc091 Terrie said the same for me as well. I just had fingerprinting/background check done in June and she said they will not accept those because its not with BON.
Yeah I got all excited thinking I was going to get to skip that step and save $40 but then found out that it wasn't accepted
tlkeating
