UT Tyler nursing spring

Published

Am applying to UT tyler nursing program for spring 2015. Anyone else applying? Feel free to post comments.

I don't have anything in admissions, only " apply for admissions" a column the says " complete" and the next line says " texas succes init"

This is all that I see:

Whew! I think I have everything completed for paperwork except for the fingerprinting and background check! I managed to squeeze in the drug testing today! It is a relief just to get this much done!

Any other takers for the November 8th CPR class at TJC?

Now I need to go back and read luckyberries posts! Seems like some good information/tips for us. Thank you luckyberries!

That's exactly what I saw on mine. Thanks for sharing the image. In your uttyler do you have something "on hold"? I have something on hold and in enrollment saids I can enroll my classes until November 6th.

Do you got all your vaccines? My arms can not handle more bruises. I'm missing to fax confirmation of my diphtheria/tetorifice/pertussis vaccine.

Yes,

I had the TB screen, DPT, and Flu shot done on the same visit. I wanted to just get it done although I would have much preferred to space them out a few weeks at a time- not because of bruising but just to allow the immune system to deal with one at a time. I suppose I am the cautious type...

Class registration begins on Monday so I wanted to try and wrap all this up so that I can register and plan. I will probably work on obtaining my supplies next Wednesday.

@luckyberries, so how do employers see graduates from UT Tyler? I am really trying to make a hard choice between UT Tyler and UTMB. In terms of location, UT Tyler is just 1 hour, 30 minutes away from me unlike UTMB which is 5 hours away. Have some of your mates already secured a job? Again, is it likely that someone can finish the program with a 4.0 gpa? Lastly what is NANDA? Thank you very much

You're between a rock and a hard place there. I'm from Dallas, and don't let me get started on how hard it is to get hired out of the city. It is because some of the hospitals write you off because you haven't done clinicals in their facilities. So if you want shots at a big town like Houston I will suggest UTMB because they do some clinicals there. UTTyler only does East Texas stuff. Honestly I'm trying very hard to get a job right now. I used to work at Mothers, and most of them are writing me off knowing I'm from Dallas and I have a high chance of leaving within a year. And then Dallas is writing me off because I don't have experience at their hospital. Its a tough call. When I made that choice I went with the NCLEX passing rate, you can google it. I just went with the best school on my list.

NANDA is one of the required books that you have to get. Its the weird one that you'll probably wont understand if you just open it straight up. It has all the nursing interventions.

What about people finishing with a 4.? Is it possible?

It is possible but its hard, I don't know anyone that has but I believe in yall. Its also hard to swallow if you mess up in level 3 because thats the cut off for gpa calculations for honors. My gpa was a high 3 but I failed gero (half the class did) and made a C in family which dropped me down to barely a 3. Right now I'm making almost all A's but that doesn't matter, I still wont graduate with honors, just a high gpa. It kinda stings to know that. But hey, high gpa!

Good to know that. Do you have recommendation for apartments?

lol that I can help. The farther you go the cheaper it'll be. I stayed at chelsea creek a last year, the management team is amazinng. It was pretty decent except for it was extra old so the AC unit sucked. We ended up getting individual heating fans and cooling fans cause the unit will run forever with no change in temperature. They include washer and dryer, but it sucks. It takes 2 rounds of drying each time. Last year we lookked at Dove Tree, it was super cheap like 680 a month for 2bedroom. We didn't pick it cause my roommate thought it was too cheap. The place is super nice though. The Ashton's is really nice too. I'm there right now. Their price changes every Monday so we called every monday to see the price. It went from 740 down to 710 a month for a 2bedroom. They're gated which helps a lot. Only down side to Ashton is phone signal sucks so check your phones. And don't stay at Autumn Glen, just don't. Apparently their management stink more than a skunk.

I have a hold too it says I must meet with my advisor before registering, I suppose that's normal.
