Hi All,
Just submitted my application to UT Southwestern's GN internship program beginning in July 2015. Hoping for the critical care or ER track. Has any one else applied? Will they be hiring more applicants this year due to their new facility? Any help would be appreciated!

Hey Jordan,
I currently work at UTSW CUH and will be starting the RN Internship (Critical Care track) next week. The recruiters from HR mentioned that our internship class was the biggest so far with 50 new hires. So it definitely seems like they're hiring a lot more nurses. I've also been hearing that there positions to fill in ER and ICU at CUH. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions regarding the application process! Also, there's a UTSW Job Fair on Saturday, February 28th from 8am-2pm, if you're interested in attending.

Hi! Thanks so much for the info! I have applied to UTSW for the critical care track starting in July as well. There is definitely a TON of competition in this area for jobs, so congratulations on getting in! If you don't mind me asking, do you know what pay they offer new grads in the internships? Or when you can move up the career ladder to the next level?
I though the Career Battery test was terrible. There were several questions with all wrong answers. I got one about a med error and why I should report it and all of the options were terrible. I didn't get any sort of email about whether I passed or not...I'm hoping that hearing nothing is a good thing? I did get an email from the senior nurse recruiter at UTSW saying that they will take 7-10 days after the application deadline and will let us know what our status is after that time period.
Has anyone take the Nurse Battery Test yet? How long did it take for you to hear back from them whether you passed or failed? My friend said that she received an email the next day telling her that she didn't pass the test, but I still haven't heard anything back yet.
Did your friend get that email saying she didn't pass in relation to UTSW's internship application?

Yes! I feel the same way, that was quite frustrating. Hopefully we did okay though. Keep us posted on what you hear and I'll do the same.

Yeah, my friend applied to the internship. She said that the email told her she failed but that should could apply to UTSW again in six month. That test was horrible, and I feel like it is a bad indication on how well we will do as a nurse. I researched about the test and read that a lot of nurses that have been working for nurses for years have failed the test.

Thank you so much for the information, sumijohn. I will definitely try to attend this as well. Although I still do not know what the career battery test is, but maybe that will come in another day or two.
