UT Southwestern Fall 2013 Internship

Published

I am curious if anyone on here has been accepted to the October internship? I have and am trying to find out as much as I can! I cannot wait to start and meet everyone in my internship class :)

Thank you!

That is so exciting to have an actual test date. It made me more nervous to have a date scheduled, but also made me study harder. You will be so ready in 2 weeks to take it!

I take mine on Wednesday, so no studying for me today and tomorrow. It feels nice to not have to study...hopefully I will pass and will not have to study for it ever again!

Alright, so I wasn't able to get any information. The lady who gave me my packet was in a hurry it seemed like, so I was unable to ask questions. I was hoping I would get some more information, but it looks like we might just have to wait it out :) good luck on Wednesday! I'm sure you will do great, and then you'll have it all behind you! Then you can go buy all of your RN gear ;) I'm glad to have a test date, but I'm also nervous and pretty anxious! I think I'm ready, but I would like to use the next two weeks to just make sure I am 100% more than ready!

I took the NCLEX this morning and got the "good pop up" when trying to register just now. It was not easy by any means, but I have heard it is supposed to feel difficult when you pass! Good luck and keep studying :)

Awesome!!! Congratulations, that is a good sign :) How many questions did you get, if you don't mind me asking? Any extra helpful tips?? I'm starting to get very nervous as my date gets closer and closer!

I had 75 questions. I would love to give you advice, but I am worried about it because it would be specific to what I saw on my test and that would be breaking all of the confidentiality agreements :(

The most I can say is make sure and study the management and infection control more because according to the NCSBN these sections make up almost half of your test!

During it, just stay calm and talk yourself down. I felt like every question I answered was wrong. I took a break at 60 questions which was about 45 minutes and then came back and finished. I was so nervous when it shut off at 75 - I was like "no, I need more chances to prove what I know!" I thought there was no way I passed. I guess that is how you are supposed to feel though because to pass you are getting the application and analysis level questions.

Just keep studying and doing what you're doing! Everyone in my program that has taken the test so far has passed in 75 questions! We all did Kaplan and some did Hurst as well. I honestly could have probably taken it 2 weeks ago and done the same...

Understandable! Thank you for your tips and advice, I really appreciate it :) I will let you know how mine goes in two weeks! Now go and celebrate!!! ;)

Hey Kza321! I hope that studying is going well for you! I am officially an RN and it feels surreal.

I wanted to update you on some scrub info I just received. We can only get scrubs through one company. There are about 4-6 different pant styles and 6-8 different tops. The prices range from $6-$15 dollars for each piece. I guess the gift cards for scrubs can be used for undershirts and other little items!

Kevsgirl, congrats on passing your NCLEX! I'm taking mine tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have my RN license soonish. Have you been in contact with UTSW since you got your license number? I'm getting nervous that the only thing I've heard from them was the one email about updating our applications, but I figured I'd wait til I had my license to start bugging them again. Thanks in advance for any info you've got!

I hope y'all rocked the NCLEX today! Just 48 hours until you know for sure :)

I will keep y'all updated on anything else that I hear. So far, nothing since the email about updating applications. My friend who is starting in October as well emailed about the scrubs and that is the only reason I know about that!

Now relax and enjoy your weekend! You will be an RN soon :)

Hello everyone! Sorry I have been studying like no other! Take my test on Monday, but I am more than ready to get it over with! Thank you for the scrubs update, I really appreciate it :) Did your friend ask first, or did they send out an email about them? I agree with cass1320, I am a little worried that I haven't heard anything from them yet! However, I am not in a huge rush since I don't take the NCLEX until Monday anyway ;) Can't wait to meet and see everyone! It is getting close!

I passed! I'm going to email/call HR as soon as I get my license number to ask them who I need to give it to. Hopefully I'll get an update then. I'm also emailing my hiring manager to let her know I've passed and to ask for recommendations for preparing for training. Hopefully I'll get a response!
