Updated:   Published

Hi! Here's a new forum for everyone applying for the July 2020 Nurse Residency at UTSW. The application closes on Dec. 1st! I applied for the Women's services track!

I honestly have no idea. I really hope it is done by department. How was your interview?

I think it went well but I couldn't get a very good read on the interviewers so hopefully we were on the same page! It was relatively short but I was told they'd been flying through the interviews all morning. When is your interview?

Mine is Friday! I’ll be flying in tomorrow evening. Did they ask direct patient care questions? Or more behavioral?

Lots of behavioral stuff. They did ask about some clinical experiences, too. Very typical questions so no curve balls really. Good luck to you! Where else are you applying in the area?

I also applied to Children’s and Parkland. Just praying for the best. Thank you so much!

Hi! I will also be interviewing the 23rd for the Critical Care Route. Good luck to y’all! Did anyone do the externship that has already interviewed? Was it the same style of questions?

Had anyone heard anything back from the Women Service department? I applied for L and D on Nov 29th and still haven't heard anything back.

@annieg414 I also applied to Women's Services but have yet to hear anything. Hopefully that just means they're still sorting through applications and deciding who they want to interview. *Fingers crossed*

Previous posts made it seem like they definitely go by unit. I'm pretty sure ICU was the first unit to notify so I wouldn't sweat it yet! I hate all this waiting though

@NurseSav20 Hey! I was wondering how the interview went, how long it lasted and were the interviewers intimidating? Thanks!

I haven’t heard back yet either and I applied around the same time! So hopefully it’s just because they’re doing it by unit

Hey! Mine was pretty chill. The interviewers were all very nice. My interview was less than 30 minutes but I was told those who were interviewing were going through them pretty quickly that morning. I’m sure that greatly varies depending on who is interviewing (hopefully that wasn’t a bad sign for me haha). The questions weren’t difficult or surprising. I prepared with some general interview questions and that served me well. Best of luck to you!

Hey love! The interview went great. It lasted about 45 minutes, and not intimidating at all they were so nice and made sure I was comfortable. Their titles were the only intimidating part, lol. Questions were simple, not tricky at all.
