UT Houston 2011 summer accelerated program

Published

Hey guys,

Just wanted to reach out to those applying for the summer 2011 semester. Does anybody know when we should be expecting interview letters?

Specializes in Newborn nursery/ NICU.

I received mine via e-mail Monday the 10th. I also received the letter yesterday, the 13th saying the same thing.

Just wanted to pass this along. I just spoke with the BSN counselor. She said they would send out acceptance or denial letters on the 15th of April. She also said that not everyone who gets in is required to do an interview, it is depended on what the committee decides. This was news to me. I was unaware you could be accepted without interviewing. Don't know if this makes me fee better or worse, since I still have not heard from the school. Guess I will hurry up an wait.

Out of curiosity, what are everyones stats?

My gpa is a 3.0 and my science gpa is a 3.45. I scored a 92 on the HESI. I still have to take a&p ii, micro, nutrition, and psyc of learning this semester at HCC. Should be a fun semester. Hopefully I can bring up my gpas with these classes (although I have to honest, I thought my MA would help me get in but maybe I am wrong).

Hey Guys,

I got my interview letter today and I am set for Feb. 15 @ 8am (YUCK! I will have to leave College Station pretty early!). I am very excited though!

When I spoke to the SON about how they select people, I was told that every person who meets their criteria gets interviewed if they are applying for the accelerated program. I also was told that they rank us according to how many pre-reqs we have left to complete too. Hopefully I stand out since I am all done in the pre-req department!

I am not sure what makes them offer anyone a spot in the accelerated program vs. their regular program, but I have a friend who did the regular program who had a 3.2 nursing pre-req gpa and 3.0 science, even though she applied for the accelerated.

Hope this helps!

Brandig07, looks like we have the same interview slot! A fellow Aggie as well?? See ya there.

Yes ma'am! Class of 06! I'm thinking of getting my hubs to drive me so I don't have to worry about parking! Any ideas as to what you're wearing? So nervous!

Ha. Just realized how sexist my comment was to assume you're a girl! Sorry!

I am a girl, no worries!! Class of 05!! Probably wearing slacks and a knit sweater and closed toed shoes! Comfortable but professional. I do not know how I am getting there! I live as close to CS as I do to the medical center. There is a parking garage down there, but it is a few blocks away. I parked in it and walked there, causing me to miss the info session! Looking forward to meeting you and seeing if we ever crossed paths at a&m.

Anybody interviewing Feb. 8th at 8:00 am? Starting to get really nervous!

I'm not interviewing till the 10th. I'm nervous as well. I've looked through all the past posts for advice and what to expect. I just want to fast forward to when I know if I'm in or not. This has felt like an eternal process lol. Good luck at your interview!

Thanks! Good luck to you as well. I'm surprised there aren't more people on this thread. The past threads had so many people! Can't wait until it's over with and we can stop stressing!

Yeah my interview is on the 15th and my emotions keep flip flopping! One minute I am confident and Excited!! The next, the thought of the interview makes me get nervous and my stomach starts to churn!

I too just want it over with and to know! Just think, we are early on in the interview process so we will still have almost 2 months to endure the whole decision process!

I want in this program so bad!

I feel you, Brandi! This is the only program I applied for, so I'm really stressing and hoping to get picked! Hopefully we'll be classmates soon :) And yes, we still have months to wait! From reading past threads, it seems they started the interview process later than usual. I wonder why?
