UT-Houston Fall 2007 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hey all,

Just wanted to hear who else on the board is applying for Fall 2007. I've sent everything in and just took the NET test last Saturday. Now the waiting game begins!

How about that hepatitis B vaccination? I got it 7 years ago (the three shot series), and I still have all of my shot records. Do they make you get it again? or do I need a booster shot?

I was also wondering about that prerequisite due date. My guess is that it is wrong information, because it contradicts what their website says.

dm22,

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure as long as you have proof that you have already gotten the vaccination, then you are good to go. =)

Would you happen to know what all needs to be turned in by April 23rd? Thanks!

Where is everyone driving from? Anyone want to set up any carpools?

are the UT scrubs still navy blue? i heard they changed it...but i'm really hoping that was just a rumor!

So are they going to send out rejection letters? I'm assuming I've been rejected since my link hasn't changed and I haven't received anything, but some official word would be nice. I wonder what they are waiting for if they've already sent out acceptances.

So there was a letter in the mail today saying that pre-reqs are not due till August 20th.

Hang in there. No news is good news right now. Not everyone accepts their spot and then they send out more letters. By the way, don't give up. I didn't get in last year, and this year I did.

as far as scrubs go, they mailed out the list of supplies needed. on the list was the navy blue scrubs. i went to the university bookstore to look for the software for the PDA. They seem to be light on the number of titles compared to what is on the list. they also have a typo on the list (several really), the "tame" tag is actually a name tag and according to the bookstore people, the school patches are not orange any longer, they are white and iron-on.

there is a discount scrubs place i found the scrubs and lab coat at a good cost. it is up the way from major's bookstore on fannin in a seedy looking strip center.

Can I ask you a question? What did you do differently this year that you didn't do last year? Did you just wait it out or took additional classes or improved some previous grades? Can you pleaaaaase tell me, I'd appreciate it a lot :D

Last year, I made it to the "second round" also, but did not get accepted.

I did not wait it out. I started HCC's ADN program in the Fall 2006; however, had to drop when my mother (out of state) died in November. I started over this Spring 2007. I am about to wrap up Fundamentals and my first set of clinicals (my favorite part) at HCC. I hope most of the credits will transfer to UT. Anyway, the only thing that was really different than last year was they did face-to-face interviews this year and started the HESI entrance exam. Since I was able to interview this year, I was able to sell myself much more than a peice of paper could. My interview day was really rough. I went to HCC, took a class exam, went to UT for the interview, then returned to HCC for class! Honestly, I was surprised when I got in! Anyway, good luck!

OK, dumb question. Does UT have nursing classes straight through the summer like HCC? Or do they take the summer off at UT?

They do. I hope I'm not wrong, but in the packet they sent in the mail, there is a sheet of paper with dates when classes and finals begin and end. There are summer sessions for 2008 and 2009, so I think that there are classes during that time.

Yeah, unfortunately, no summers off. You'll either take OB/Pedi or Psych in the summer.
