I haven't seen a topic for the UT Health Fall 2018 program, so here it is!
I am applying for the fall with following stats:
Prereq GPA 3.65
Science GPA 4.00
HESI (just took it last Friday):
Reading 90
Vocab 92
Grammar 84
Math 96
AP 100
I am making a career shift with a BS in Chemistry that I got from UH Downtown.
Good luck everyone!
Good luck everyone!
I've been on the Lone Star forums for a while, but now I'm making my way over to this one as I've decided to apply to the Summer and, if need be, Fall 2019 cycles.
Still trying to figure out what my GPA is for the classes I've taken so far. I have 2 F's from HCC from years ago from when I had to stop going to class after the drop dates - one being an English prereq that I will be retaking at Lone Star and one being a random music appreciation class.
Do they calculate only the retaken classes when looking at Prereq GPA or will that F in English the first time around come back to haunt me?

Are you applying for the spring cycle?
I've called the school many times about this. Each time I'm told the same thing, that only the highest grade for a retake is used to determine your GPA.
If you repeat a class that is a nursing pre-req then the highest grade is used to calculate your pre-req/science gpa. If you repeat a class that is NOT a nursing pre-req then BOTH grades are calculated into your overall gpa. I emailed the school last year and was sent this by a lady named Amy.

Do you know if they even take the overall GPA into account for admission? On their website it says the requirements are at least a 2.75 in the required pre reqs and 3.0 on the required science courses. Nothing about an overall GPA. Unless I overlooked it?

Most programs I have talked with only look at courses required. So like for me, I have a previous degree but my grades for my geography classes are not considered in anyway. Because nursing is a specialty school and is usually completely separate from a university, they only transfer in certain credits. This means that to UTH, my GEO 3840 or whatever, doesn't exist.
It's similar to when you take courses at one college that don't transfer somewhere else. If that makes sense.
