Hello my fellow nurses, has any one on here been accepted into the University of Texas at Arlington for their PMHNP program starting Fall 2016? I have been accepted and was hoping to connect with others starting as well. Or if you attended the program or are currently in it could you please give me some insight into what the program entails. There are so few psych NPS out there so it'll mean a lot if I get responses. Thanks!

Yes, PMHNP Certificate. Sure, PM anytime.

For some reason it won't allow me to PM anybody. You can find me on Facebook. Dana Long is what I'm under

Hi, I'm looking into applying to this program for the Fall 2017. I'm unable to find a degree plan for the PMHNP program... would anyone be willing to share with me or let me know how long the program is and whether or not there is an option for full time study? Thanks in advance for any info you have.

Hello alouette66,

I have started Fall 2016 (after the program restructure) so I can help with that information. Full time study at the UTA Graduate School of Nursing is considered 6 hours while Part time study is considered less. I study full time and the expected graduation date is December 2018. Full time is presented as a "2-3 class plan" and Part time is presented as a "1-2 class plan" because one semester you take three courses at a time that have fewer hours. So in summary, under the current structure of the UTA PMHNP, Full time graduates of the program study for 5 long semesters (Fall and Spring) and 2 Summers while Part time students study for 8 long semesters (Fall and Spring) and 4 summers. If you started in Fall 2017, your Full time graduation date would be December 2019 and your Part time graduation date would be August 2021. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions.

Good afternoon,

Just wanted to see if I could network with you, I'm on the market for a PMHNP for a client I have in Tyler, TX. And I have placed a few PMHNP's out of this UT Arlington PMHNP program and it's a great class.

If you know anyone, please contact me to discuss.

How long is the Post Masters Certificate program for the PMHNP? Any info on UTA is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Hello Enilec. The post-master's certificate degree plan is made with your advisor based on your prior degree and courses needed. Here is the link to the full Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner degree plan. Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner MSN - College of Nursing and Health Innovation - The University of Texas at Arlington

Candidates with another NP degree typically have the quickest path through the program. The advisors will evaluate course by course the equivalence to UTA's courses. I'm sure you had a Theory, Research, Evidence Based Practice course that will qualify. Depending on what school you went through Advanced Patho, Pharmacology, Assessment, Roles may be able to be skipped or repeated. Apply and talk with an advisor!

You will be given the option of full time or part time study. Some of the classes are 2 hours, some 3-4 hours. Full time study is 6-8 hours at a time, part time no more than 3-4 hours at a time or one class at a time.

Anyone applied for PMHNP at UTA for the fall semester

Hey there An folks. I'm a long time AN member and my program is actually BSN to PhD however. . .

Since you guys have all applied to PMHNP program at UTA I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to chat with my husband who is looking to attend this program. He's a current BSN RN with 16 years experience. We are local to UTA so this program would be great.

If any would be wiling to answer a few questions, sent me a PM through AN!

Thanks!
