Hi, I'm looking into applying to this program for the Fall 2017. I'm unable to find a degree plan for the PMHNP program... would anyone be willing to share with me or let me know how long the program is and whether or not there is an option for full time study? Thanks in advance for any info you have.

I think many, many new RNs feel this way. I remember the nausea and tears on the way to work during the first six months. I started in the ED and it was terrifying, every single day. But it was also a ton of fun. We laughed all the time, we always came to each other's aid when needed -- and all it took was a quick sideways glance. I was lucky to have the best people working around me who supported me when I needed it. It's all about support when you're first starting out. The unit you describe, cardiac step-down with 5-6 patients sounds really tough, esp for a new RN. I would say try something else before you give up completely. There are SOOOO many paths you can take. After my first year in the ED (during which I was challenged and experienced more personal growth than I knew was possible in such a period of time), I am now in behavioral health which I am enjoying... it's completely different, I get to know my patients.. yes, I still have to spend time fixing all the admin issues and mix-ups etc but that just seems to be the case everywhere. However, if you aren't too overwhelmed with the rest of the job, it's manageable. Good luck to you, whatever you choose. Just know that from my perspective, you started out in what sounds like a very stressful and unforgiving situation. Maybe you should give the ED a shot? Although I like my current work, I miss the teamwork and laughter of the ED. Couldn't survive without either. :)

Does anyone know when clinicals start for the FT program. I'm thinking it's Term 3, but wanting to make sure... ?? Thanks in advance.

I'm applying to this program for a Summer 2016 start. Would be interested in hearing about others' experiences with the program, as well.

I applied last cycle and was unsuccessful even thought my debt to income ratio should have pushed me over the top. My advice: don't get your hopes up. Apply as early as possible. First come, first served in other words.

I agree with the other responses. You made the right move by leaving that hospital. And you can still apply to other organizations as a new nurse. The added stress of your marriage issues doesn't make things any easier. Perhaps you could take some time to deal with that source of anxiety before stepping into another new nursing job. I am a new nurse too, just 5 months on my own after a FOUR MONTH orientation to the ED at a rural hospital. I still ask questions every single day, still learning the ropes. It is stressful, but you should always have people to turn to at your workplace as a new nurse. You just landed in the wrong spot. Not your fault. Best wishes to you!

$90K in loans for a BSN (I presume...?) is outrageous. I had the same perspective you did.. "I'm not so worried about my loans and funding for school while I am there because I think thats negative and can be very stressful. I will worry about it when I graduate and become the Nurse I've only dreamed of." Well, that's what I thought too. Now I'm an RN with a BSN who doesn't get paid very well and who is still looking at loads of debt to repay. I'm not sure how I will ever be able to repay it at this rate. Nurses are severely underpaid in my opinion. On top of that, the "dream" job is nothing like I'd thought it would be. I love the patients, don't get me wrong. The problem is you are always running from one room to the next. No breaks, no lunches. Management breathing down your neck about all the things you DIDN"T do... when all you've done is BUST YOUR ASS all day long. It's a thankless job most days. What makes it worth it is having the privilege to really make a difference in people's lives when they are most vulnerable and in need of your help. However, at the end of the day, I'm still too exhausted to really do anything but veg out in front of the TV. I'm worried about how I"m going to make ends meet on a meager salary. My first raise was 60 cents per hour. I feel a bit stuck now.... and a bit resentful that this is the reality you encounter when you become a nurse: you are overworked, underpaid and underappreciated. There are definitely opportunities down the line if you can stick it out the first few years. But if you're a single earner/ head of household like me, it's really tough. If I were you, I'b be shopping around for a much less expensive route than $90K. That sounds paralyzing to me. Good luck!

Does anyone happen to know the email address they use to communicate with applicants? I'm waiting to hear back about my application and am worried I'll miss an email. Seems strange that they wouldn't give us an email address to add to our contacts list in order to avoid this problem.

Do you have the email address they use to contact you? I'm keeping an eye out for any correspondence from them, but would feel alot better if I could lock in their email address and know it would never go to the spam folder. Thanks in advance
