UT Arlington Fall 2020 Cohort

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

Hello Everyone!!

It is finally my time to post to this forum! EXCITING!!! I did not see a thread for Fall 2020 and I might be SUUUUPER early but man that nursing application process takes proper a year doesn't it?

I am done with all my general courses and TEAS except for nursing chem, one elective (health and human disease), Patho, Pharm, and Intro to Nursing. I plan to take CHEM 1451 and HEED 4312 in the Fall 19 semester, apply in January, and then while waiting on that, take Patho and Intro to Nursing in Spring 2020 and Pharm by itself in Summer 2020.

I have an A in Micro, A&P 1, and A&P 2. This has been a LOOOONG journey and I cannot wait to start!

For those familiar with the curriculum I have a question. Once accepted, are the semesters Fall and Spring only or do they (say I start in a Spring term) run through Summers? And while at it, it seems like there are several things that get you .5 points to add to your score. I would surmise one would be advanced degree but what are the others?

From the handout:

Upper-Division BSN Selection Process
The selection process is based on a scoring system. Applicants with the highest points will be accepted until the available admission spaces are filled.
The point values for each criteria in the ranking process are as follows:

  1. Prerequisite natural science (A&P I and II, Microbiology, and Chemistry).
  2. BSN lower-division prerequisite courses GPA, which includes the upper-division elective.

Additional Considerations: Each additional consideration completed by the application deadline has a point value of .5. Additional considerations
considerations will be added to the composite GPA score for a combined “total score”. The additional considerations are as follows:

  • Twelve (12) or more College of Nursing lower-division prerequisite natural science credit hours earned at UT Arlington
  • Thirty (30) or more College of Nursing lower-division prerequisite credit hours earned at UT Arlington
  • Previous baccalaureate, master’s, or doctoral degree.
  • United States Military Veteran, Reservist, or member of the National Guard.

So when does the appication open for admission to Fall 2020? Is there two different applications for the summer and one for fall? Its cool that they are starting a cohort during the summer. I imagine that means there is more slots now for students in the nursing program. It might make it slightly easier to get in.

Unfortunately I still will need to take technical writing and intro to sociology during the summer so Im definately applying for the fall.

The Summer start is included on the Fall app. If people do not meet the Summer criteria they will be put back into the Fall applicants. There aren't more spaces but hopefully will take some people out of the pool so yeah we might be getting a better chance to get in! ?

Hey guys, new here. I am applying for AO BSN for Spring 2021, hopefully will have 4 considerations by then and competitive GPA's. I am trying to get my immunizations together before applications. Do I just go to my PCP for this? I've had most of those vax done but I don't have the records (don't have my military health record unfortunately). Thanks in advance!

You have to go where ever you recieved your vaccinations to get records. Did you recieve your vaccinations in the military? If so I imagine the VA could help you with the records. For the vaccinations you havent recieved yet you could go to your primary care doctor or your local pharmacy.

End of semester update! I got an 88 on my chem final so this puts me at a B overall. 3.75 science GPA!!! now to finish my elective. currently have a 94 in the course ? Getting closer yall!!

Congratulations!!!!
I’m about to get my first ever science B and it’s stressing me out! Microbiology threw me. I wonder if I should retake it?

Thank you! Are you wanting online or campus?

Online. I’m going to apply to Cizik as well, because as it stands I think I have a score of 8? And it’ll drop when my science gpa drops from 4.0 to 3.7 ?

I have been looking through the thread and I see UTA is starting a summer 2020 entrance as well as Fall. This is great! I wanted to know...I work at a local hospital here in Dallas. Do they factor that in as well if you're a PCT already?

Yeah that is another requirement. Having all the science prereqs done. Well look on the bright side. I have read on previous threads that spring application season is less competitive than the fall. Who knows if that is true or not.

Hello, I applied for Fall 2019 admission. My stats are: 3.75 Science GPA, 3.8 cumulative GPA, 7.7 ranking, and no additional consideration. I was not accepted. I reapplied for Spring 2020 and got accepted. Also, 3 of the 4 natural sciences have to be completed before the application deadline. Everything else has to be completed before the the program start date. Good luck to you !

Hmm. Interesting. My cumulative is only 3.7 as well. I just hate the thought of sitting on my butt for an entire semester!!
