Usfca university of San Francisco BSN SPRING 2017

Published

Hey everyone!

has anyone else applied for spring 2017 bsn program at USF? I know we'll be getting admission decisions soon!

I really am scared of being is 80k in debt but I know this program is very good and secure, as in clinical sites and preceptorship are guaranteed.

True about the clinical spots being guaranteed, but USF is 44K per year and the nursing program is 3 years long, just an FYI.

Hey @futurenorcalnurse

do u remember what kind of mail the letters were? USPS priority? Ups? Were they the large envelopes? Did it say "here what you've been waiting for"? Thank you

It was a bigger envelope (a little bigger than 5x7 maybe). It came regular USPS and I don't remember anything on the outside, just a return address of USF :)

80k~ is about my limit. If that degree costs way more than that then I can't do it... Not going to be in student loan debt that is hella more than what a nurse makes in a year imo

Wait to see what your aid might be. I have grants and loans now and am hoping for a larger grant in 2017. But if you aren't getting any aid it will cost way more than 80K. The tuition doesn't even cover supplies etc. :(

Hi RvtRn0227

you're welcome. I just can't focus on something else so I wanted everyone to have something to think about beside the letter haha:)

we we are in the same page. I couldn't take the teas this semester. My best friend who had 3.9 over all GPA and 4.0GPA on the prerequisites scored 75% on teas (she studied 2 weeks and took the test) got rejected from several CSU's and it was hard to accept. Sisnce most schools only allow 2 attempts, I don't want to take it any time soon with out preparing well. That holds me back from applying to CSU's for fall 2017.

If i I don't get in to usf, I will apply to Sacramento state, SF state and out of state for spring 2018.

So if u pan on going to CSU STUDY hard for the teas:)

The tuition scares me a lot but it's life Everything can't be perfect sometimes lol , something has to be sacrificed. We will be paying for education witch will pay us back after graduation so I think it's worth at the end of the day.

do you guys plan on living in campus, out of campus or commuting? (Of course if we get in lol)

is 44k just for tuition? Or that includes books as well?

very true :) I am preparing for the worst and hoping for a good amount of aid. If you don't have any additional classes to take you can pay the part time rate some semesters ($1500/unit) making tuition less than 44K that year :) there are scholarships and the school gives some money to transfer too. I'm trying not to worry to much about it since it is what it is. I'm just looking at is as the cost to put USF on my resume. It's a choice I made to have that be the case :) good luck to all of you!!! PM me with any questions and I hope to see you around campus!!

Youre rightí ½í¸Š the students/teacher ratio makes me feel better about the tuition. I am the kind of students that does better in small class than large classes. I feel like the small amount of students in class will allow the teacher know and help each student. Even though taking HESSI test every semester to be able to continue in the program makes me a lil bit nervous, but they say that prepares students to pass the NECLEX. That might be the reason why their passing rate hasn't been over 80% for a long time.

you will love USF then. My science classes were huge (~100). But my English and speech classes were 12/15 people and it was so wonderful. Some of the best teachers I've ever had and a very intimate learning environment that was very enjoyable.

About the Hesi. My teacher said if we are an A/B student then we don't need to worry about doing well on the HESI/NCLEX

OMG!! 100? Is it also all since class (nursing upper division)? Or just the prerequisites since like anatomy?

and that makes me feel better about the hessi:)
