USF MSN-CNL non-nurse summer 2018

Hey everyone, I thought to start a thread for the current University of San Francisco Summer 2018 application period for the ME-MSN for non-nurse program. I've read the threads from previous application periods and thought it would be nice to start one for this current application period. Feel free to start posting about anything you'd want to talk about or share.

@nursemanager2be - wow, i wasn't aware DNP students also teach the MSN classes. Does that happen often or are there faculty members assisting them? Also, do you know if students in your cohort worked as floor nurses rather than nurse leaders? I would also most get jobs as a floor RN because those have the most openings rather then managerial positions.

There are a couple of classes the DNP students teach. Don't get me wrong most are able and willing. They are fantastic, but a couple are terrible. No none of the nurses went on to work on the floor for a any measurable length of time.The price of the program makes it not worth taking a floor job. I think a couple worked on the floor their last semester and while they transitioned. The CNL role is amazing if you love finding innovations and helping patients and staff through education and new processes. For myself I thought I wanted to be a CNL however nurse manager was better.

@nursemanager thanks for your input I will have to think about it. I think I would want to work more as a floor nurse maybe ICU? Something to think about.

Yeah, becoming a CNL isn't necessarily for the floor but it's to push you towards becoming an NP or DNP. Eventually, I want to become a psych NP so I would highly recommend this route.

No :( I called them today, and they said they're still reviewing applications and we should hear back in the next couple of weeks...

@losiu Hopefully we hear something soon... it seems a bit odd but I am still hoping for the best for all of us :)

I haven't received any notification. I emailed them yesterday and got a generic email that applications are STILL. UNDER. REVIEW. -_- WHY! I think i'm waitlisted at this point..
