USF ME-MSN Summer 2021

Published

Hi everyone!! I didn't see a thread here so I'm starting one for the University of San Francisco's (USF) ME-MSN program for non-nurses for the San Francisco campus! The deadline is actually today (1/15/2021) and I was wondering who else applied! Good luck y'all and I hope we all get in together :-))

I just got in but I want to give some people on the waitlist some hope!! I don’t think I’ll end up choosing USF so hopefully my spot will go to one of y’all ?

I was also sad to hear I was waitlisted! congrats to those who got in! And to those rejected, hang in there and don't give up!

I was told they was no seat for me this semester.

I have a 4.0 undergraduate and a 3.68 pre req. however I don’t have any direct patient care because I am currently a Certified dietary manager.

I wish we were notified sooner because I lost some other opportunities, admission and job offers because I was waiting to hear back from the school.

Congratulations to those who got in.  I had a question for those accepted, any advice on what background to have for my next application with another school. I have already accepted a LVN program at least maybe that will help next time.

Reading everyone’s post really helped lift me up, it made me feel like I am not alone.
thank you all again.

Alex,

what did you change on your application once you got waitlisted? Since we get no feedback, those of us who already had completed pre-requisites are curious what you began doing once you were waitlisted to become a more attractive candidate?

The first time I got waitlisted I was still taking 2 of my prerequisites (which took me 4 years to finish). So I finished those, tweaked my letter, got an updated letter or rec from someone that wrote a more personable one, and I added another year of volunteering to my resume and expanded on those experiences in my letter. Even with that I got waitlisted a second time but thankfully got in 2 weeks later. I think the letter you write is the most influential part.

I know this may not make you feel better but they get hundreds of applications and only take a cohort of 36. It really sucks because there are a lot of really great people that will be perfect for the program but there just aren’t enough spots. It will happen for you. If I can get into a program, so can you.

Hi Alex!!

is there anything we should be doing to get started? I filled out my intent to enroll, paid the deposit, logged back into my old USF profile and updated my address, I checked financial aid but there’s nothing yet and it said it wouldn’t be available until after I register on April 12th... any tips would be helpful!! Thank you, super excited!

Hey!

That is a great start! In your acceptance email there should be a link of next steps. I also attached it below.  I would recommend going ahead and scheduling a physical with your doctor. You will get an email from USF with health requirements including a physical and titers. That email will detail all of the blood work you will need.

Here is the link that lays out some of the next steps.

I intuitively scheduled a physical already that will happen next week and will order blood tests and titers as well ?

Thanks for the help Alex, appreciate it!

Hi all! I am on the waitlist and quite thrilled! To those of you who got accepted, I am curious what the deadline for replying/accepting a spot is, for this Summer start? That might give me an idea of when to expect movement on the waitlist.
Good luck to everyone on the waitlist and congratulations to anyone applying! Its a lot but we will get there!
Thanks!

Hi there,

The deadline to pay the deposit is April 9th and you can’t pay it until you accept the intent to enroll portion so I’m guessing that’s the deadline? Hope that helps!
