USF ME-MSN Summer 2021

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi everyone!! I didn't see a thread here so I'm starting one for the University of San Francisco's (USF) ME-MSN program for non-nurses for the San Francisco campus! The deadline is actually today (1/15/2021) and I was wondering who else applied! Good luck y'all and I hope we all get in together :-))

Hey,

So this is my second time applying (I applied for the OC campus last fall for Spring start and was rejected. It made sense, I had a lot of prereqs remaining) and I’m surprised how long they’re taking this time; it’s actually really rude, considering that the program begins in May. I heard back from a June start program (DePaul, accepted) and a Fall start program in February (MGH, waitlisted); both came weeks earlier than promised. The last round for USF OC campus, they wrote me on the ninth week just before Thanksgiving. This time, it seems they’re pushing it as long as they can.

It’s gotta be this week or next week. I figured they would tell us before they went on break (3/14), but apparently not. I’m not expecting to get in, but it would be nice to officially know when the start of the program is less than two months away. I’m so sorry for everyone else stuck in the same predicament.

It’s so weird to me how little notice they give, it’s a bit inconsiderate. For people who would have to move out of town it’s a lot to figure out in a short amount of time with finding housing and putting in your notice at work. Luckily I got into another program but I’m waiting to put the deposit down till I hear from USF.

I know, right! It's very inconsiderate. Do you guys know if everyone who goes into this program graduates as a CNL? They used to have information on the CNL part on their website, but now I can't find it anywhere at all except the word CNL at the top of the application portal.

early April??? APRILL???????? LOL but actually that is ridiculous. That's 11-12 weeks and not 10. They initially told me 6-8 weeks when I emailed back in February.

I attended their virtual session today and they said they are not accredited for CNL, but students are given the option to take the exam at the end if they so choose

I didn't know that, they failed to mention that in the webinar. I'm wondering if it is worth the cost without being accredited. Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah I would’ve assumed it was accredited and was part of the program. Do they at least offer some guarantee that you will have a chance at passing if you do go thru the USF MSN program?

For folks who have applied before - how do we go about (if we get waitlisted) moving our application to the next semester? Or do we have to go back and get our recommendations again and resubmit everything?

They didn't go into much detail. They probably said 3 sentences max about CNL

So I applied last year and was rejected, not waitlisted. But I actually know the answer to this just because I've read the FAQs so many times. They don't allow deferment, so you'd have to reapply. The deadlines are also different for each campus. I applied to the OC campus in the fall (September 15) because I was just in a rush, then I reapplied to the SF campus because the January deadline worked better for me. If you want to reapply, you could apply for the April 15th deadline for the OC campus to get the soonest result. Here is the link I got the deferment answer from.
